I too thought it interesting that they made/returned 22 744 capts. But, I also wondered if they were doing a final cleanup of the capt augmentation issue? I say this because there were NO 744 FOs.

Carl, or any smart whale guys?

mx guy in dkr says we are turning the 76's into freighters as to not have them be sold and compete against us! guess we learned from the dc-9s (value jet)!!

If we add a new subfleet, say 30 some E175s, then we would have to staff those.

Are you guys sure its not because Bid Period 5 for the Whale is coming and thus the staffing rules are changing? just thinking out loud...;)

Yes that is most certainly part of it, but that wouldn't explain all the earlier rhetoric about being overstaffed on the widebodies.

Turned into freighters and sold or turned into 742 replacement freighters?

well the 757's were the ones that had the most "fat" right? if all the last few displacement bids we just had took care of that then maybe we'll see some addition to other categories now as they figure out the staffing adjustments needed to meet the Bid period 5 staffing requirements.
