Remember our goal. To go from overworked, underpaid and undersexed to overpaid, underworked and oversexed.

It's all subjective.

Please fill out your survey on what you believe qualified for being overpaid, underworked and oversexed.

Wasn't that a week after the 737-100 was certified? :D

Oh wait, wrong airplane.

Here, the 737-200, only overhead I could find:

Wait, I'm confused which one is new and which one is 40+ years old. And I ran out of smiles. I hate the 3 pic limit.

BTW, anyone else get nervous when non-reving with that threat "IF YOU USE THIS PRIORITY AND IT IS INCORRECT YOU WILL BE CHARGED $150..." I get nervous.

It's just another slap across the face, from a regulatory standpoint. Means someone owes the Brits and the Spaniards a favor WRT protecting oneworld and helping them control/retain AMR. And the Germans are too powerful to be touched.

Also, you'll notice United and American are making the right noises, to make IAG and LH happy: thye're whining that we don't have full transatlantic mergers. RA said ont he last call that we don't need mergers, since alliances work just like mergers. The very next day, the Europeans announce the probe.

So if you hope threatening to kill our venture is going to make RA buy a bunch of airplanes, your heart is in the right place, but your brain isn't: it'll merely lead to Delta lobbying for mergers along with the others. Didn't like sharing with AF/KLM before? Not to worry, they'll solve the problem by making sure your flying is now their flying.

Guess which side of the Atlantic has strong labor protections that prevent job losses, and guess which side doesn't?

Perverse conclusions, but probably an accurate analysis. Sorry.

Like I said, this whole AMR thing can go sideways and we could see Foreign Ownership. Labor law on this side of the pond is not set up for this, and to state that we would take a beating is an understatement. You think the RJ whipsaw is bad, just wait.

AF/KLM wont have to divest anything (unless economically they can't sustain it), but Oneworld's euro arm will get some action from them or get spliced into skyteam/ star.

That is better than total Foreign Ownership, and it too makes sense if the OneWorld partners are making noise. They will need dance partners and fast. I much prefer to deal with this than foreign ownership. We do have our six/eight way protocol in place, and that is a lot more than others do, but it is still a far cry from labor law going outside our borders.

Star is not immune:

My guess is we'll see a few more odd Transatlantic routes added for Delta to appease the regulators funded by pulling down capacity on others.

In March we'll be at a roughly 46% share of the drastically pulled-down transatlantic JV, so there will be ample room for Delta to add a flight here or there.

One aspect to consider: this is a profit-sharing JV.
Delta is profitable, whereas AFKLM/AZ isn't right now.
It's not in Deltas corporate interest to increase Delta's share of flying if the profit gets split with the other team, even if it's capped.

Cheers
George

Lets hope. I figured that our JV already had ATI, so revisiting this and others making noise at a time when their US carrier;AMR, is in deep trouble could send this stuff sideways. Lets hope not, but stranger things have happened. After all this is an election year, and every vote/job counts, especially with 24 hr news.

What a beautiful overhead panel. So well organized and logical. The brilliance of simplicity, capability, redundancy, efficiency and reliability all in one. The panel which set the standard other manufacturers followed and the general layout of jets being designed 50 years later on.

You are missing the EU's intent. They want money. Specifically they want money they don't have to work for. They will allege price fixing went on (and no doubt there is illegal coordination of capacity with the intention of "managing revenues). Then they will levy a big monetary fine to transfer some of the airlines' profits to the government. Lobbyists will spend money fighting the fines. Ultimately the airlines will raise prices to generate money to cover the government payments and the attorneys ... Hence the circle of socialist life continues.

I'd quote the 737 overhead panel but I'm shuddering and tremoring at the thought of seeing that piece of junk again. My ears started ringing, too.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. ;)

After 20 years of flying the Lockheed Star Lizard and my brief soirée with the Mad Dog, all I see is a sexy ***** calling my name. Apparently you boys can't make her sing like I can.:D
