Fly summed it up very eloquently.

Speaking from managements perspective:

"Unlike the pilots, I'm looking 15-20 years down the road. These chumps are just looking at the next 5 years tops! Once things go south financially in 2018 I can take back that pay rate and I will have achieved everything I wanted. In fact what I'm really after is their queen.....those 737's and A320's. Once I have that it will represent over 80% of the total airline. It's only a matter of time until checkmate."

Heads up. This is a make or break contract. Oh, and look around here T, sharpen up the SA a little.

So it's simple: you order a bunch of 737-900's, or 717's, or whatever, pump up your number, sign the contracts for the 3:1, then pull back the Dc-9's.

That's the problem we have.

Agreed, the language is weak. However it still at least limits the total number of greater than 50 seaters to 255. Right now 152 (I think) are 76ers. The company can "trip park" planes at the mainline briefly for a pump and dump if they want to, but all that does is allow them to trade 70's for 76ers but they are still limited by the 255 cap. Increasing that cap is what this is all about. They might even try to bribe us into selling more of our own flying (any large RJ above the 255 hard limit regardless of mainline fleet size) with our own flying (717's, A319's, etc). And we just might fall for it.

FWIW, if you guys don't like the scope concessions that are coming, you need to be ready to provide some serious pushback, and not just to YOUR reps.

Good point. I need to take a second look at the language. I'll also have another discussion with my rep(s). I'll consider whatever the NC can produce, and I hope they know not to produce a turd, because a T agreed is usually an A passed.

Never in a million years did I think I would agree to another 76-seater, but then again, never did I have so much exposure to large-gauge scope probelms, and such contract erosion.

I'll keep an open mind, and look at Section 1 carefully. If it's a step backwards, on the whole, I can't vote for the rest.

What does that mean? You want us to push your reps too?

Yup. And the MEC Administration. They need to know that you are displeased.

I need to get as close as I can on scope to those Boeing 737's and A-320's. I'll sell them on the "ratio" factor for now....I'll use the numbers to lie and mask my true intentions. They'll also feel like good employees for "helping" me get rid of those pesky 50 seaters. What those pilots don't realize is that they've sold, yet again something that they'll never have the power to recapture...scope...their own jobs. In turn I've given them something that blows like the wind.....a pay rate. Unlike the pilots, I'm looking 15-20 years down the road. These chumps are just looking at the next 5 years tops! Times become tough....I simply lock out the 777 pilots who are too small in number to defend themselves and I hire easy replacements =Checkmate

If they put up a T/A that we don't pass, they should resign or get resigned.
