The production balance will likely involve more 76 seaters, but a 2 way production balance instead of the previous bathtub rim.

I'm still fuming over the purported pay "increase." Taking deep breaths and hoping to be pleasantly surprised.

No deal.

Even if the balance is two way, giving up more 76ers is completely unwarranted because they are at the limit and if they feel the need, the need for feed, then they can get whatever they want and we can fly it. The one way check valve sucks but its at its max and all they can do now is pump and dump by getting rid of another 100 70's for 76ers (high cost, minimal reward) and at that point even that is capped.

Ready for the section 6 long haul.

I'll second that...But cautiously optimistic. We'll see. Let's hope we're all very pleasantly surprised.

Yep, and any mention of givebacks for reeling in 50 seaters would be a huge red flag. They were over bought and they are being reduced to a more logical fleet size due to their economics... no thanks in any way to our scope as they are unlimited.

cautiously optimistic, however, it's very difficult to imagine dalpa even entertaining ANY talk of increasing 76 seaters, EVEN if pay rates doubled. The forst thing from them should be non-starter when the other side moves their lips.

The phrase "76 seaters" mentioned and the MEC should hit play...

Remember: as far as the production balance, when hours are increasing and DCI gets to increase, everyone will be happy.

When we decrease hours, mgmt will fight tooth and nail and find a way to not decrease DCI hours.

NOT ONE MORE SEAT, JET, OR POUND NOT FLOWN BY DELTA PILOTS!

You can't just ignore poetry like that, especially if it's also a Top Gun reference. The only way to do better would be an "Airplane" reference. Well done!

My impression is that the 'ratio' includes ALL non-mainline ops, such as JV. Comprehensive, if you will.

groundstop 04-27-2012 07:17 PM

DALPA will spin it however they will, ratio, etc. But in the end, they are going to ask for scope relief. As others here have eluded to, once you give it up, you DON'T get it back. Lets hope our pilot group can see thru the spin.

FlyZ 04-27-2012 07:19 PM

If I were trying to trick some pilots into giving away more flying, I would come up with a statistic that can improve while the scope gets worse. Think about this...

I run an airline with 6 737s and 3 50 seat RJs. Each jet flies 12 hours per day. So my ratio of mainline to non-mainline block hours is 2:1.

Now, I park the 3 50 seaters and buy 2 76 seaters. Each jet still flies 12 hours per day. Now, although I'm moving more passengers on RJs than before, my ratio is improved to 3:1. Notice the ratio improved, but I need the exact same number of 737 pilots.

Now, I do this on a grand scale, buy more RJs, and start parking some 737s, all the while keeping my promise to improve the ratio of mainline to non-mainline block hours.

TO'M, let ME be perfectly clear. We will not be snowed by fancy numbers and ratios into giving away more flying. And it doesn't matter how URGENT the sales pitch becomes.

Hold the line, guys!

Yeah, and my underboob rehab was going just fine until Jesse posted this:
