I don't know if this true or not but it sounds as if theyre done testin the new 88 cockpits at night in the sims and an MD88 will be retrofitted with the new cockpit and operated solely out of CVG. Is that rumor true?

If it is true I'd also like to know if the "spilled coffee" test was as successful as in the original issue:)

Bingo! Don't know why it freaks guys out. Anyone flying at Delta should be able to tell if the engines are spooling without referencing the thrust levers.

That's true, especially if you're cool finding out several seconds late that the A/T system is planning on spooling up before the instruments register. On the 88 I think you can even have more time to relax before the thrill of finding out if the spool up might be part of the program. I'm certain if that airplanes shows target thrust or not, but I am certain it likes to miss (or exceed) targets, and it's got a spool time that sometimes is best measured with a solar calendar.
