If I saw a flash mob live I'd probably just smile. I mean something about it makes you just laugh and watch.

Looks like the one in DTW was in the inflight office vs the terminal (need a DTW guy to chime in). Wonder if some bigwig in DTW said no to doing it in public

Ultra-low cost carrier growing again in its first year at DFW, announcing further expansion plans

DFW AIRPORT, Texas, Feb. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Spirit Airlines today launched service to three new destinations from DFW International Airport, with flights to Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson International Airport (ATL), Orlando International Airport (MCO) and New York's LaGuardia Airport (LGA). The three inaugural flights today mark the first wave of a large planned expansion of offerings at DFW by Spirit Airlines.

Spirit not only doubled its DFW destinations today, the ultra low-cost carrier also announced it would launch service from DFW to Tampa International Airport (TPA) and Myrtle Beach (MYR) starting in early May, and that it has applied for government approval to connect DFW with Toluca, Mexico (TLC). Previously, Spirit had announced new service from DFW to Boston (BOS) and Phoenix-Mesa (AZA), which is scheduled to start in March.

"We welcome the addition of new Spirit Airlines service from DFW to Atlanta, Orlando and New York City, and we are pleased to see even more flights coming later this spring." said Jeff Fegan, CEO of DFW International Airport. "Spirit's tremendous expansion at our Airport means that DFW passengers will benefit from having more travel options and more choices to fly."

The first arrival from Atlanta into DFW was greeted with a traditional "shower of affection" water cannon salute from the DFW Department of Public Safety.

Spirit Airlines arrived at DFW less than a year ago with service to Fort Lauderdale and to Las Vegas, and then added Chicago Midway service soon thereafter.

"We are excited to be liberating even more customers from high fares as we continue to grow the number of cities we serve from Dallas/Fort Worth," said Spirit's Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Barry Biffle. "Our cheap base fares give consumers the opportunity to save money on travel, and our range of optional services for a fee allows customers the freedom to choose only the extras they value."

The added service from Spirit represents further proof of the Airport's ongoing momentum in developing new air service for the citizens of Dallas/Fort Worth. In the past 16 months, DFW has added six new passenger carriers, nine new international destinations and over 20 passenger air routes.

It will be good for DFW commuters. 2 jumpseats on each airbus---ATL--DFW.
May be why we only have RJ's going to LGA.......

NKS is really trying to get bought aren't they?

I am sure. It is a great deal for senior pilots the way it used to be. We got what we wanted, and not we are not happy with it. The good deal of sitting reserve on a bigger jet for the junior guys is going. It respects seniority. Not good for me personally, but good for the pilots that want reserve to respect seniority, as it should.

Congrats! The 767 is an awesome airplane. Atlas seems like a good company too. Glad to hear. Enjoy.

There are about 1800 pilots here at DAL above me that have were hired after me. For those of you still reading this, I don't lie in bed at night gnashing my teeth over this, but if we set the template for a smooth and relatively non-hostile SLI by calmly accepting relative seniority as the new normal all the angst about other airlines hiring and those new pilots coming over on top of us is pretty ironic. We made our bed and we'll have to lie in it at a time not of our choosing. Yeah, yeah, I know the list is a product of arbitration, but the way we went about it set us up for the end result.

Deltaairlines(one word) is not interested in organic growth and our association(I refuse to call it a union) is not interested in our scope concerns, both items that would mitigate the damage done by the next SLI, so we'll have to prepare ourselves to man up and welcome whoever our new brethren will be, even the ones above us with fewer years of service.

But once word got around about this 'technique', it became more of a High Time Game. "Wow, did you hear about Joe? He scored a 120hr. line!"

BUT...since the last two bids have both had a lot of displacements out of my category, I think guys are starting to see what the net effect is when half the category is flying WAY above ALV+15 and the reserves aren't flying at all.

I wonder what the displaced co-pilots think of trip parking now? Classic "Tragedy of the Commons" scenario.

For anyone not familiar (From Wiki):

The tragedy of the commons is a dilemma arising from the situation in which multiple individuals, acting independently and rationally consulting their own self-interest, will ultimately deplete a shared limited resource, even when it is clear that it is not in anyone's long-term interest for this to happen. This dilemma was described in an influential article titled "The Tragedy of the Commons", written by ecologist Garrett Hardin and first published in the journal Science in 1968.[1]
