If we had SWA pay (rates and W2) for 130 seaters and up from there proportionately, these displacements would result in raises compared to current rates and W2's. Just saying.

For March, almost all of the MSP DC-9 trips start and end with deadheads... most of them to/from ATL. If they're really going to keep the -9's around for an extra year (end of 2013) and keep doing most of the flying hub and spoke out of ATL, it probably makes economic sense to move the base there.
From a company standpoint, I can't see the logic. From our standpoint, I like the way you're thinking on this. |

Today's Delta news.
2015 would work for an Emirates contract. Management should be considerate and give voluntary leave until they expect a need for pilots. If they offered a 36-60 month leave for pilots, I bet a lot would go jump on expat flying or a contract gig. That said, DAL says they need you to fly the MD-90 growth........(Well not growth, just bringing back some of the 9 flying, well maybe.... ) EK is doing their SIM eval in our SIMS. Wonder if DAL will have someone down there noting who is coming over to do a sim ride. :D |

Except the left seat would then be open to all in seniority order (new category), and it would lead to a complete reshuffle. It would make perfect sense for anyone with the seniority to bid it, and displace to wherever they want after it goes away. Perfect play for anyone that can't get into another airplane they're senior enough for, but can't get into.

I agree, but at the ATL road show apparently they were talking about limiting the credit time and bringing the jet to ATL. I agree that if they are to keep them for only a year, it is mo bettta for them just to DH pilots around. |
I haven't heard anyone say anything about what changed to drive the decision to keep the 9's around another year. I'm obviously glad to see it, but has anyone heard if there was any particular change that drove the decision?

You're gonna have to show me your math on this one. You said "and up from there proportionally", which to me would be the exact same crappy pay scales we have now albeit for more money. So... since there will be displacements from the biggest equipment to smaller equipment, there will be paycuts for those at the top of the list. Seems obvious to me, but perhaps I missed something.
7ER and 737 900 the same rate with intl override. 330 and 767 400 the same. 747 and 777. Most of your displacements would be from 737 7 and 8 and 320 to the 88 so less pilots affected by pay on displacements. |

I was told they are getting rid of 20 more RJs this year, hence the need to keep the DC9s around. What will replace them eventually? Hopefully not larger RJs flown by Comair. Maybe the C-Series flown by us? |
