I was just surprised the ticket prices. $1181... each. Can't buy tickets for 4. But if I'm flexible and leave tomorrow, $4,700. All on a CRJ-200.

Try that for RASM-CASM on a CRJ-200. And we really think these things will go away?

(sorry flyallnite, I didn't see your post, but I hope there is a bust cycle or we'll bust an opportunity to make more money with bigger jets)
That is the magic of capacity restrictions. It also is the justification for Corporate flight departments. When I flew corporate all it took is a couple of these $1,000 fares to make taking our Sabre 65 a money saving proposition.t

Is the Norfolk area craziness due to the WN/FL mess...err...integration changes? If it's not a capacity issue I would think we would keep the mainline on both to add pressure in the area. I wonder if having the capacity is the issue

Maybe it's just finding a place for a 50 seat contract or twelve....

Its also justification for the bloated LCC order books that plan on adding many hundreds of growth aircraft to the domestic system in the not too distant future. What we're doing is creating a very temporary dot.com era rebirth with yields but it won't last as others will grow into what we abandon or downsize and they'll do it with a much lower cost structure based on endless growth funded by our "capacity discipline" today driving long term yields lower than had we not used that strategy. Burning the furniture to heat the house by cannibalizing our own network for short term quarterly results.

When the lines intersect it will be interesting if we take our hoarded cash and wage a massive offensive and brow beat the LCC's hard (which we can do and we can win big time) or will we accept it as some new normal like we have in Boston and treat it like permanently yielded market share?

and poor gate air....and M8R caterers wearing helmets and pads...and that wise guy who keeps hiding the trashbags on the M8R.

FTB,

I think we were onto something over the JB jet blast vid and discussion. They Closed the thread, not sure why. Who woulda thunk it!

The A319s will shift back to the domestic hub and spoke system and appear on the following:

-JFK-BOS: 4x daily and cancel the 6x daily OH CRJ-900 flights
-LGA-JAX: Equipment upgrade
-LGA-PWM: Replace an OH CRJ-900
-DTW-DFW: Upgrade a CRJ-900 flight
-DTW-MCI: Upgrade a CRJ-900 flight
-ATL-ORD/LIT/HOU: Upgrade one flight each

Obviously Delta decides where to put the jets.
The company will make more money, so that's a plus...

It just makes the "we'll upgauge as the market develops" line a little questionable...LGA ORD is the biggest market and it's 100% RJs...

And as we become more "vertically integrated" as a company by buying an oil refinery (a good thing IMHO) we continue to outsource our core competency to third party vendors because it's all the same...

Cheers
George
Crazy news. I recently talked to one of the chief pilots in NYC. We discussed the LGA gate swap, and the loads on the shuttles. The CP said that DAL was going to up gauge both shuttles to mainline aircraft because of demand. Then exactly the opposite happens.

I know it's too late but...

And don't worry folks, if you forgot to bid, you'll probably get a better line.

No kidding!

Did you personally fly that thing btw? What was it like? I know we've talked about it on here before but I've heard it's fantastic.

Well, I know more about jet blast and blast pads than I did this time last week.
