Using that argument, could one say campaigning/voting against incumbent elected government officials "undermines their work?"

That would be a bit dictatorial/undemocratic, don't you think?

The concept here is "accountability." It's in short supply within the ranks of DALPA and ALPA.

On the other hand I also think this is now pretty much an academic argument since we are in section 6 with DALPA in charge - thats OK with me.

If on the other hand as you say above outsourcing 4th generation jets would be a big mistake (I agree) - Do you think DALPA would be more or less aggressive resisting more outsourcing since the DPA became an issue?

Scoop
So, is permitted aircraft types: inclusive of Geared turbofans and no seat limit on props (as proposed by the DALPA opener) a loosening of scope?

I say it is.

You have to be kidding! This is the union and the NC that we have. I don't even know what you mean by "undoing" a TA. That doesn't happen. If the reps refuse to ratify the TA, the reps will explain why they did it, and tell the NC exactly what they need to go back and fix. If the reps ratify the TA but the members vote it down, the reps will do the same thing. If the NC and the MEC quit because their pride has been hurt, then the reps will quickly elect new members to fulfill those roles, and get right back at it.

A representational election will only happen now after we have a contract...if that contract is substandard.

Since that's not going to happen, you don't need to worry.

A quote from the article " Delta also will brief the leaders of its pilots union on the potential oil refinery plans during union Master Executive Council meetings on April 18 that also will cover numerous other topics, the source said."

Hmm.

Thank you, that's good news. I don't know any of the NYC guys. But if they all told you that scope is not for sale, they're my kind of guys.

I doubt it. If it passes, then ALPA stays, if it doesn't, then we have a chance to either recall our reps, vote in new guys during an election, or keep the ones you got if you like them and they run again. DPA isn't a credible alternative and I doubt we'll join the IBT. JMO

If 100% of the bottom half votes NO, then it's NO...because you've definitely got my NO vote here from the top half.

This will probably shock the hell out of you Carl since you think I don't give a rat's a$$ about scope, but I would vote no too.
