Just wait and see what happens and if we get the TA then we can dissect it.

Default I hear!!!

I hear the TA is out and I was not surprised about all the optimism on APC, of course countered by, well you know the "other crowd". Frankly, both are good in my opinion. But I decided to hang with my kids and catch their ball game and cheer from the stands with my wife. It was good for the soul!

Just peeking in on the goings on, (sort of like a train wreck) still optimistic and hopeful we will stick together and make the best of a bad situation. We just may be surprised!

So I will have a beer in salute to all professional pilots tonight. We deserve it!

Because 5 years from now we will *still* be 5 years away from the next TA. Giving up scope for a COLA plus, maybe, a few percent, and giving up work rules and staffing just to get a full or partial COLA is insane. That's like saying "the profession is over, this is as good as its ever going to get, we have to trade scope and work rules for a COLA and let's just run out the clock because woe as me the RLA is suddenly stacked against us."

Ain't buying it.

If that's the case, just ditch the union and hope for the best. Paying for a COLA is something we shouldn't even be considering on an academic level much less actually passing on to the membership to vote on. Gees.

No I don't buy it.

But if it were truely leaked then I think thats a game being played. But that game has more downside and angst than up so I really doubt it was a legit leak.

Now if the numbers are real, I'd like to toy with the idea of a vote vs an mec rejection.

We get it, you like the -er. You like the mission, where it goes, how it flies. So do/did I. You don't like the mission of the 777.

We all understand you dont want to change planes. Pushing longevity based pay works for your scenario. You get paid more every year and don't have to move.

How does longevity based pay work in a merge with Alaska scenario?

Puh-lease.

If they are so stupid they think all they have to do is unionize and identical pay raises will start flowing just because they did so, they've got a rude awakening coming. A lackluster union without even enough unity to even know what a scope clause is and based only on an out of context, moronic socialist jealousy "me too" concept will fall so flat they will be in a tailspin for all eternity, probably trading more work rules for COLA than the TA rumors.

If anyone squeals about our "raise" just compare the percent prior to BK to them and to us, then point out that we carry their entire employment with our scope clause and ask them how their unorganized union based only on jealousy and out of context pattern bargaining is going to get them a big fat raise much less a scope clause that actually means something and sit back and listen to the crickets. That's what DL will be dealing with and I doubt they are too worried about it.

Interesting question. As a thought experiment ONLY.. One could make the case that you could give DOH seniority integration to AK pilots under a longevity pay scheme, because.. I am willing to bet the majority of them live within spitting distance of their bases. So.... there would be zero incentive for them to commute to DTW to fly the whale unless they have a woody to fly the big iron.. because the pay would be the same.. Why commute for the same money when you can drive to work? However, that would be a very unique situation. but interesting, nonetheless...

As an aside, my personal feelings about what airplane I desire has nothing to do with my desires to see the current pay schemes scrapped. It has more to do with getting more money into more pilots' pockets sooner in their careers. If we stay on the track we are currently going down, pilots will continue to biyatch about poor retirements.. and it is all self induced. If you can live with that legacy, good on ya. I think i'st sad.

Now that I have had awhile to think about this 4/8/3/3, that I am down with it.

This is a reasonable raise. It is just about right for our situation we find ourselves in now after our bankruptcy sacrafices.

We should embrace this generous offer from RA with open arms...

...only if we take this raise on top of our current rates and are now paid these rate$ for every hour on duty.

I think that 4/8/3/3/ is total bunk.

How about we just guess and see who comes the closest?

I'm guessing 15/10/7/5/ then 3% COLA every year. Scope: Same or better.
