Get a reasonable place in PTC and when the pay goes up grab a cabin in the mountains or on Lake Wedowee!

What's wrong with SLC? Take that over Den any day of the week. Climate is similar but a lot closer to skiing. Great schools should be used with a grain of salt, no pun intended ;) LA has great weather btw.
As for LA, I can only tolerate so much for perfect WX. It can't offset the traffic, cost, politics, or people that I'd have to deal with if I moved there. And yeah, I know you were kidding when you recommended it :).

What he said. If she was willing to put up with NYC winters, DTW shouldn't be a stretch. Is boating or outdoors your thing? 650k would get you a pretty ridiculous pad on a lake, within 1-2 hours of DTW.

Just go ahead and surrender, get your cracker ticket and live with it. You will end up there anyway...AND save a marriage in the mean time.

Remember, education is over rated. Just ask the pilot applicants trying to get hired without a college degree. Sorry, had to stir the pot!

Have you considered Athens? Really cool town and I think only about 1.5 hrs away.

Athens is great. If you have kids, look at Watkinsville/Oconee County adjacent to Athens/Clark County. It's an hour and a half to airport. There are multiple routes to the airport. If I wasn't so lazy, 25/30 minutes to the parking lot, I'd leave Coweta and move to the Athens area.

Anybody have any insight on living in PDX and commuting to SEA or SLC? Seems like it would be a pretty easy commute to SEA but would love to hear input.

Traffic in Portland and across the bridges is awful. |

The 767ER category is 70% (or more) domestic 757 flying, lots of ATL-Florida shuttle, 4 legs a day, type flying. You have to be very senior in the category to consistently hold Europe trips.
The 767-400 flies 90% International trips, and pays more. |

I hear the SEA commute through PDX is very tough. DAL used to have a MD-11 base in PDX and you will always be fighting for the JS or a seat in the back. Don't know about SLC but it would probably be similar. Scoop |
