Anybody here who commutes out of austin, what is the parking like? Do you use an airport employee lot or make a deal with a hotel? Any tricks of the trade?

Employee lot is $50/mo and easy walk to terminal, or you can take the bus. They bill your cc monthly.

Wow fast reply. Thank you!

I notice that there's little to no discussion of CVG. Is that just because Cincinasty is nasty, or is it more of a "withering on the vine" soon-to-be-former base?

The company has already said they are going to close it, they are just waiting for the training pipeline to get unplugged because most of the guys based in CVG are senior enough to go from the MD88 to the A330/767ER as soon as they are displaced, and that's what's going to happen, but right now those training pipelines are packed full.

I'll have to check this out again.. When I called about AUS employee parking they said I had to be "based in Austin."

Are they actually asking if your airline flies to Austin?

I'm based in NYC, and I pay the $50 and park at AUS. They know that I'm based in NYC.

How is the commute to nyc? Seems like it would be tough out of Aus. Doee the higher seniority make it worth it? Seems like Atlanta would be more manageable.

Loads to NYC are much lighter but far fewer flights. Lots of flights to ATL but most are very full. Pick your poison.

I'm just holding out for the double secret Aus/Sat base that allows Delta to break back into the Texas market. I volunteer to be the plug on the 190 at that one.
