Don't know if he was a LCA, but jumpseating on a 757, first thing out of CA mouth, "so what branch did you fly for?" Needless to say it was a long commute listening to him tell me I didn't learn to fly the "honorable" way... Sorry didn't realize supporting an American business with $50,000 of my money wasn't honorable.
My favorite is "I went to the Academy" to which the Captain get excited and will respond "which one?" If he's Air Force, he'll already inhale and hold a breath so as to be ready to tell you about his Air Force Academy experience.
Your reply should be "Comair" or "Delta Connection." Then observe the Captain turn purple while trying to figure out what to say.

Yet NOT one mil guy has posted something as derogatory about his civ trained peer on this thread.
Q: What do mil pilots think of civ pilots?
A: We don't....just be cool to fly with.
Get over it girls.

One of the best things a mil guy can do is partner up with a civ guy in training. The fact that your partner has been through 121 school already and can help explain airline philosophy and "whys" will help tremendously. Every new hire knows how to fly, not every new hire has the experience gained from operating in the 121 world.

Interesting how the civ guys are posting about the mil guy's ego/bravado/credentials/lack of CRM....

When it's simply not the case.
Plus the "smurf jet" nonsense.

Tumbleweed sorry your seeing it as a bashing, but it is a fact, that military flying and civilian flying are two different worlds. Guys who can embrace that change and try not to let ego get in the way will enjoy their new civilian life of - 2 hour ground stops on their last leg of a 5 day while trying to catch a tight commute, dispatchers who don't add alternates when destination is reporting 1/4 mile visibility, schedulers blowing up your cell phone while in reserve, stacks of jeppesen revisions, hotels infested with bed bugs, ect ect... In all honestly, it's the greatest job in the world.

"smurf jet"? Get over it.
The first jet In flew in the mil was the A-6 Intruder.
A common nickname was the SLUFF....The "Slow Ugly Fat Fu**ker". (A-7's shared it with us, btw)
I can't think of a more insulting term for one's aircraft than "SLUFF"
But I flew it. And I was proud to fly it.
Here, let me help you remove that chip from your shoulder....
It's all about attitude my friend.
Bottom line, be cool to fly with.
