That is not correct. I also know plenty of qualified guys that are just waiting on a call in my squadron alone. Most are bummed about the flow/guaranteed interview, but that's how it is. This career is about luck and timing. Bad time for mil dudes trying to go to DAL IMO (also civ dudes that don't fly for a compass or pinnacle).

Hate to tell you but that is so far off it's not even funny. I don't even think guys here have been getting UAV's on drop night.....at least not enough to even think about it.....

I believe you might be a bit misinformed on the amount of mil pilots doing the UAV thing. The vast majority still fly real airplanes.

In 2010 when I went through Upt 3 people out of my class of 30 went to UAVs. That number only decreased with the classes after me.

I think you will be pleasantly surprised after a couple of years of hiring. There are plenty of loopholes Delta can use to hire the people they want. The 35% ALPA DCI rule in particular is written with such loose language that it is essentially meaningless.

I thought UAV drivers (RPAs I believe is the more PC name these days) were going to get their own track so the USAF didn't waste their time and tax payer money on getting a person trained to fly only to have them go to a booth. My guess is that it's either up and running now as a training school, or close to established. In such an event I'd think there wouldn't be a drop night to include both piloted aircraft and RPAs.

I think once in a while someone gets one, perhaps it's because they put it #1......but certainly not many......most dudes would like to fly a real airplane after so much hard work.....

RPA Ramp Up

Air Force officials announce remotely piloted aircraft pilot training pipeline

Feature - 18X pilots learn RPAs first

The truth shall set you free, UPT grads are still getting RPAs if no jets available, but numbers are low. Plus UPT grads incur a 10 yr commitment, so they aren't leaving AF anytime soon.
