The first thing they asked my interview partner and I after offering us the job was whether we could be in class in 12 days. Official notice was 5 days. A couple guys wanted to give 2 weeks, that costed them a month and change delay in getting to class.

Most people have much longer notice in getting to class.

So I have to ask. Why'd you wait until 24 hours out if you were offered the job 12 days in advance?

Refresh my memory please: DAL likes navy suit with what color tie for the interview?
Thought it was solid black w/red tie. I could be wrong though.

They like a white smoking jacket (double breasted), red plaid slacks with golf shoes, a fish tie and a monacle. Top hats are optional indoors. If you smoke, a long cigarette holder is preferred.

Shiny shoes, navy/ dark charcoal suit, red tie, white shirt, belt, fresh neat haircut, no gel, shave, brush teeth.

Be sure to get that suit pattern sequence correct because a red suit with a black tie will send a very different message.

Some of the first classes in 2007 had only a few days to make it to class and Delta didn't care. I know one guy who interviewed Wednesday, got the official job offer on Friday, and they asked if he could make it to class on Monday.

Some of those guys who said they needed 2 weeks lost over 50 seniority numbers. I would probably burn a bridge or 2 to get 50 numbers at the job you will work at the next 30 years.

I think this is a myth. I wore a navy blue suit with silver stripes and a navy/grey tie. They hired me.

Actually, it's sort of a myth. The real issue is homogeneous-ness. They expect people to wear the interview "uniform." When someone doesn't, the interviewers get this "wellll what have we got here" thought process going.

One story of the most "interesting" interview was a tall lanky guy from NC came in wearing a tan blazer, khakis, and a regular tie with well used shoes. The interviewers were thinking well, what have we got here... The interview went extremely well and the comment was made (about the guy) if we could hire nothing but guys like him, I think this company would be lucky.

So, moral of the story, if you are just a regular joe, spring on the suit, don't leave it to chance.

I think it was FTB (the guy).

Grey with red tie works too.
