Long time APC stalker...
I received the Delta interview invite email Monday around 3:30 EST. I couldn't be more excited for this opportunity. Thanks to everyone who has posted gouge on the process. I have spent the week trying to read everything from this forum I could possibly find on Delta. Better start studying!
Good luck to everyone waiting for the email!

I doubt you will see a official announcement. When the 300 number was put out the fleet plan was different then today. The new plan will require more pilots. They are hiring 1500 flight attendants and normally it's just under a 2 to 1 ratio flight attendants to pilots. They hate putting hard numbers out because if they say they will hire 600 pilots and only hire 599 some will scream that they are liars ect..

About hiring 300 when they really plan on hiring more? Think of it as "Under promise, and over perform." Kinda like padding your arrival time in a PA by several minutes. If you get slowed or delayed, you're still "on time" in the passenger's mind, and if you get in "early" they are really happy.
About everything else, like ExAF says, their lips are moving.

Wanted to return the favor...
Interviewed this week with 7 other folks. 6 of us were successful.
The interview was one of the most professional, yet laid back experiences of my life. There is a ton of gouge out there, so use it. No matter what you study, the Written Exam will be difficult - but the gouge is good. Use a prep company, simply for the fact it puts you at ease and gives you practice. I used Emerald Coast as well as Cage. Emerald Coast was excellent for the WWYD questions, Cage was excellent for the HR portion. I didn't get a single question from any of my prep sessions, but after doing the prep I felt like it didn't matter what they asked as I was prepared to answer anything in the format that worked best for the interview.
The actual interview was like I was sitting with 3 guys at a bar telling war stories. It was very laid back and open, and didn't even feel like I was interviewing. Great guys, and I definitely hope I get to fly with the active CA out in SEA in the future.
Overall, top notch experience. I am very lucky to have my dream job lined up, and I couldn't be happier. Best of luck to everyone to follow.
