Thanks! I Definitely don't mind the 88. I like the quiet cockpit. It was more about EWR departures, which as gloopy said vary from month to month so maybe I could still get EWR flying on the 88. I consider myself lucky trying to choose which airplane im going to fly based on my DRIVE to work. Most people are worrying about their commutes flying across the country, so I do realize how good I have it!
New AE bid results just came out. Looks like lots of guys leaving 88 and 320 in NYC, so should be very easy for new hires to get either.

ATL7ERB = 9
DTW7ERB = 1 (probably no backfill)
MSP7ERB = 1 (probably no backfill)
NYC7ERB = 7 (hard to tell, they backfilled some, so might not have had enough bidders)
ATL73NB = 33
CVG73NB = 1 (probably no backfill, but maybe no bidders)
NYC73NB = 37
ATL320B = 15
MSP320B = 2 (again, hard to tell)
NYC320B = 37
ATLM88B = 77
NYCM88B = 46
ATL717B = 45

What are the ATL NB categories like for new hires? Trip types and time to hold a line? Sounds like best QOL for NYC NBs is 88 then 73 then the bus. Is it the same for ATL?

Based on people leaving etc..., I get the following not filled (some maybe due to no backfill):
ATL7ERB = 9
DTW7ERB = 1 (probably no backfill)
MSP7ERB = 1 (probably no backfill)
NYC7ERB = 7 (hard to tell, they backfilled some, so might not have had enough bidders)
ATL73NB = 33
CVG73NB = 1 (probably no backfill, but maybe no bidders)
NYC73NB = 37
ATL320B = 15
MSP320B = 2 (again, hard to tell)
NYC320B = 37
ATLM88B = 77
NYCM88B = 46
ATL717B = 45
My math is subject to interpretation

I'm also about an hour away from EWR and was really looking forward to the shorter drive and no bridge tolls. Crossing a bridge in NY is crazy expensive! But alas, change happened again and there are few EWR departures for the NYC 73 and I'm not senior enough to touch them. Now I fly a lot of the Caribbean turns from JFK which I like, even though they do make for a long day.
I think you're doing a good job trying to make the best decision you can based on the information you have available. Just realize one of the reasons Delta has been as successful as it has been lately is because they move the different airplanes in and out of markets. They work hard to get the capacity to match the demand. Good luck and welcome aboard!

Thanks Razor! Sounds like change is definitely good for business. Being very junior in my class is bad because I may not be able to choose my equipment, but its also good because, well, I may not be able to choose my equipment haha. All 3 narrowbodies in NYC will have their pros and cons, I'm partial to the airbus for various reasons but Im sure I would end up adapting to/loving the md88. Im going to assume the 73n will not make its way to the bottom of our class, but who knows, each class is different.
