Here's a naive question, I was looking at the APC mandatory retirement numbers, they don't go over 200/year till 2016. Assuming those numbers are accurate (?), why is Delta hiring so much right now? And why the confidence they'll keep hiring 500/year forever?

Is there a lot of expansion going on?

Delta has phenomenal marketing. They have successfully developed profitable route structures and theyre capitalizing on that by expanding. Future west coast expansion to support SEA feed since Alaska is no longer doing it will also play a role.

Those are mandatory retirements. Actual retirements are higher as well as the mainline list growing with the 717 deliveries.

KiD must be sharp
I happen to know him. He was a standout in college, and it helped him earn an internship at DAL. His timing happened to be phenomenal in terms of getting hired at his regional and having the bare minimum of time acceptable to DAL pretty much when the window opened. He did an outstanding job of networking with the right people. When the door opened, he was first in line. One thing I've noticed is that of all the civilians(myself included), that have been hired so far that I personally know, they(we) have all had a very significant internal contact of some sort. Just FYI.

As long as it never has Southwest written on it. I would rather DAL razed it than sell it to them.

Why is that such a big deal? If you are in the top 100 you will be doing pretty much anything you want....

Please define significant? I have a candidate that has 6 LOR's from 747 Captains down to lowly MD-88 FO's. The one with the least amount of time is 14 years and this candidate hasn't heard a peep. Does it take a management type?
