I think DTW 717 would be your best bet. It's going to grow fast & you'll hold a line within months. Hotels are $40 out the door vs $150 in NYC. But the biggest reason is a future 717 base in LA. Big things are happening on the West coast & the 717 will be a part of it. There is no freeze on a base transfer, you'll be able to slide into LA as soon as they open it, might even be a line holder! I've been here 8 years and would still be on Rsv on the 737 in LA. Don't chase the bigger metal, bid what will give you a line in base ASAP. 1 Greenslip a year will make up the difference in pay between a 717 & 737. Best of luck! Welcome aboard!

Traditionally you need about 4000 total time as a minimum.

Impressive resume! Network network network and good things will come.

btw Wollac, is N901GX still flying? I cant believe I flew that thing. For those that don't know, its the prototype Global Express, first one ever built. We affectionately called her "snowball." We used to wrap ourselves in blankets on those 10 hour flights because even with the temp controls all the way up we couldn't get the cabin to stay warm.
Sorry for not replying sooner, but yes, we still have her, and she is still called Snowball. She is still cold, and loud as heck. We also acquired a brand new Global with the Global Vision Flight Deck. Unofficially, we refer to her as "Jailbait"...too young and too sexy.

Is the LAX 717 base official? I haven't seen that...I haven't been looking too closely though.

It's about 6 hours from NY on any jet. And they all have 24 hour layovers.

I would be careful on thinking the 717 is coming to LA soon unless you have some inside info. Publicly the company is not planning a west coast base and they have put out on multiple occasions that the next base will be NYC. With the gate limits there I see them focusing on larger aircraft there.

Can you call someone in the department you used to work in?

Walking in the front door is good. Walking in the back door is even better.

My friend hired after me is now about 100 numbers senior. He had your sort of experience and made a phone call netting him an earlier class date. That probably earned him at least $10,000 a year for life if he bids correctly.

They will probably call you to ask you if you want to participate in the Endeavor -to- Delta program. I doubt any direct entry Delta slots will be available to NON-military pilots unless you are extremely well connected.
