Violation
Has anyone been hired with an FAA violation?
I was given a suspension 28 years ago on a part 135 flight.....no problems since.
19,000 tt 14,000 tpic ,check airman , DC10, MD-11 ,747
Since I have not gotten called ...I'm starting to think my mistake 28 year ago is going to cost me any chance even though I have almost 10,000 hours operating safe since then.

Plus, the MMPI creates an overall profile based on its 571 cross-referenced questions. I wouldn't get caught up in individual questions, you'll only hurt yourself in the long run. We're all flawed, answer honestly and you'll get the best results. I answered Yes to "have you stolen anything," BTW. Got hired. Another guy in my group answered Yes to "I've enjoyed using drugs," got hired. Be honest!

To back up what BlaneO said the worst thing you can do on the MMPI is be dishonest or "overly defensive." The Psych interview is based on the questions you answered in the test. Needless to say BS flags are gonna be raised if the two don't match up. For the record I answered yes to the question "Have you ever engaged in abnormal sexual activity?" And got hired. You gotta push the envelope with the misses sometime...

This is a great question that I would love to know if anyone has an answer to?

1) Dont quit applying
2) Keep on updating, every 30 days (at least)
3) Keep your head up, dont worry about who is getting hired or who isn't. Your time will come.
4) Make sure all your eyes are dotted and tees crossed. Attention to detail is extremely necessary for a high time and experienced pilot like yourself.
5) Make sure you play the game and admit to your fault and what you have done to correct the issue. What did you learn from it?
6) LASTLY, and most importantly, make sure you network and try to meet or find a pilot that will check your status.

In the past...I did not worry about it. I did learn a lot and have not ever have a problem again. In the past you had the opportunity to explain what you learned. These days of a computer scoring and ranking you based on s set of parameters set by HR...I'm starting to fear that this mistake 28 years ago will keep me at the bottom of the pile for some time to come. I can't accept responsibility and tell what I learned if you don't get the chance. Obviously with my times........I don't have "years" to wait......
I was with my last carrier for 25 years..it's not easy starting over. I will keep the faith.
Thanks for the encouragement.

This hiring wave has not even started. You will get your chance. If there are no outside events that will harm the US airline industry, I think hiring will continue for many years.
Good Luck.

I got the vaunted "Application Incomplete - check employment history" email in Nov 2013. Everyone told me that is generally followed in 2 weeks by an invite to interview. Kept updating app. Finally got invite in May 2014. So they got back around to me eventually.
