It really is a waiting game right now. It would appear the majority of those getting an interview right now are people with a masters degree or in the military. You have a very strong app and I'm sure it will only be a matter of time until your called.
I took 6 years and went through 3 different schools before I finally finished up my degree online. They had a TON of questions during the HR part of my interview about this. I answered them and got hired. Some of us that had to pay for our own college and flight training on the civilian side just had no choice but to quit school for awhile and work. If you took 6 years because you are just lazy, that may be a different story. If it took you 6 years because of circumstances that you could really not control but you still got the degree, in my book that should be a positive thing.

It's odd to me, because once someone has a lot of experience in the job, I no longer put weight into their college record.

I know there is so many in our shoes. I'm very optimistic we will hear something soon - I just would like to know how soon.

While Flycameron means well, he speaks as if he is an authority with regards to Deltas hiring standards and education. He is not, Rocky Boy is more correct on this subject.

Time. Hiring just started a few months ago. Delta needs pretty much every qualified applicant that has submitted. They just have not gotten to you yet.

I am sure the hiring departments at all the majors follow the careers of new hires. If the college record was irrelevent in predicting future performance, it would be irrelevent in the hiring process.

See that's the question I have. I can understand a little bit if they see one didn't work through that time and they figured just partied. Throughout the six years in college I was working - to pay for flight school, flight training, and flying professionally as well. On my app it shows this when they look at the work history. I'm just hopeful they would take this into consideration.

Ha, true that. I guess knowing the name of this game is seniority. Every month that goes by is that many numbers lost. I'm hopeful this fall and next year is a good year for all of us that have aspirations to move on. Sounds like it should be.

Actually your whole college experience is a very good indicator of what kind of employee you may be. Someone who finished college in the normal time period with good grades is typically someone who will show up on time and do what they are asked as an employee.

Past employment history and performance is a much better indicator, but that is not always available to the employer that is hiring.

They will. I was in the same boat as you. When you get an interview you just need to show them that you had to work harder than the average guy to finish school, but you did it. They WILL ask you about it so be able to spin it as a positive.

That is exactly how it works at Delta and they do make adjustments based on performance.
