Just wondering where the bar has been set, seems it has been brought down a bit since the 2013 hiring.
It's very difficult to tell exactly. I was hired in February with 4000TT and only 140 TPIC, however I have a Master in Engineering and lots of volunteer work and a very favorable education history. They have a matrix which awards "points" for any number of things (including completeness of the app) and if you score enough points you get an interview. What they give points for and how much you need are closely held secrets you won't find anywhere. Just fill out the app as completely as possible and get someone to send an email to pilot selection to have the app scored. Keep in mind that the scoring is entirely manual so it may take some time to do it. They post internally that it can take up to 30 days to do a scoring and they will only score an app once every 12 months.

Best of luck!

Anybody else written a cover letter for Delta? I have an interview on 26 May and I haven't seen anything to say a cover letter is required or even will be read, but I am writing one anyway.

If so and you included the Delta Pilot Selection Team mailing address on the letter, can you please PM what that address is? There was no such address included in the email invite.

Thanks

When I went to interview, I brought resumes with me (but no cover letters). Not one person even asked to see a resume. You probably won't need it.

So this rekindles the conspiracy theory that you won't get called if you have too much time...

Maybe Aero Crew or Centerline Prep could chime in on this… do you get many civilian clients with, say, 15,000 hours?

I got an interview call last month. I have 7000 TT with 4000 TPIC, 121 & Corporate background. I was told six months ago that I was just a little light on time, but the scoring this time around landed an interview.

I am studying and preparing like I have never done so in my life....

Any thoughts on letters of rec?? Since they are in the airline apps system, and submitted through the airline apps system, I do not have hard copies of LOR's. Deciding if I should obtain them or add additional LOR's for the interview. Any thoughts??

Thanks

CLECA,

If you have the time to obtain hard copies of LOR's that are personally signed, do it. Just shows you've gone the extra mile. They probably won't ask for the LOR's during the interview, but if they do ask to see them, don't be that guy that says "uh, well I didn't bring them, because...um"

You do not have to bring a resume or a cover letter to the interview. Just bring what is requested on the interview checklist. My lowest time military client had 1543 hours. The lowest civilian client had 2102 hours. The highest time client was a former World Airways pilot with 18K plus hours. Delta doesn't focus on your flight time, they focus on the overall total package.

They know you can fly an airplane, they are trying to figure out who you are as a person. I came up with a saying "You can train a pilot to fly an airplane, you cannot train their attitude." Prove to Delta why you belong and how you match their corporate culture.

If you ever have a question send us a PM or email. Good luck.
