Does anyone have any knowledge on logging instructor time that was also aircraft commander time? I have a lot of hours flying as both, but if I put those hours in as both in Airlineapps, it double-counts the hours, making my total hours wrong. So I've had to prioritize and just put the majority in the PIC block, making my number of instructor hours incorrect. I figure it's an easy explanation but was curious if anyone has knowledge as to what's valued more at Delta or how they like to see it.

Long and the short of it: you are better off putting time as the instructor and PIC in the "instructor" column. I would imagine instructor time is viewed as slightly more valuable than "regular PIC" and it's all counted as PIC anyway.

Can you actually be a instructor and not the PIC? I would think instructor time is much more valuable since in the civilian world instructor time is PIC time too. But what do I know.

In the civilian world if a three man crew crosses the pond and the Captain takes a rest break in the bunk he still logs all PIC because he was the one who signed for the jet. The same thing happens in the Air Force and I can understand why someone with the A-code who is ultimately responsible for the flight should be able to log all of the time regardless of whether it was primary, secondary, or other time.

Thanks for the info. That's what I was looking for. I was more under the impression putting the Instructor/PIC time would be more favorable under the "PIC" column. But hearing your opinions has got me changing my mind. Thanks all.

There is a pretty good explanation of what AirlineApps is looking for under the 'Help' button on the top right of the screen (I think). Basically, you don't log Instructor time as PIC also, nor do you log dual received as PIC even if you were the PIC and could legally log it that way. There is an acknowledgement on the website that the AirlineApps times and your logbook times would be different as a result.

I seem to remember several people stating that they knew which tier they were placed in after application scoring. Is there a way to find this out or is it something that only the pilot selection people know?
