Yep! You cannot be bumped off the plane for any reason if you have the jumpseat.

Sounds like an awesome deal for commuters! I would bet this gets booked up quite a ways in advance? Some airplanes actually have two jumps correct?

Its not uncommon to see 20+ people standing by for 2 seats, all 20 of which burned an S2 in a war of attrition. Sometimes people even wait til the last minute to list, to see if they want to use an S2 or S3, so they don't even show up on the standby list until almost time to board.

S2's can help in some situations sometimes, but they are nowhere remotely close to positive space.
So if one decides to exercise an S2 for a particular flight, but ultimately doesn't get on the flight, do they still lose that particular S2 for the year??

No, you do not lose a S2 unless you use it.

Yes, some aircraft have 2 jump seats.

Jumpseat reservations can be made online or via an automated phone system starting at 1200 Eastern with the following lead times:

Traveling TO work: 5.5 days in advance
Traveling FROM work: 3.5 days in advance
Personal travel: 1.5 days in advance

This arrangement removes a LOT of the commuting stress one would otherwise have if seniority ruled the jumpseat (like it does at some other airlines).

Not true...only going to work. I've been bumped by FAA coming home from work and watched the jet push back...no soup for me. Remember what Delta believes; Commuting is a choice...bless their hearts

Actually you can. But you have to list for the JS first. If you have a NRSA listing in the system the system won't allow you to book the JS.....but if you get your JS listing first then go back in and make a NRSA listing!

You can check in for your NRSA listing as well as hold the reservation for the JS. Just don't wait more than 15 minutes before departure to grab your JS, or it is subject to be released.

While the system will let you do it that way, the company has put out periodic memos that it is not allowed. If someone points out to the duty pilot that you have both the Jumpseat and an NR reservation on the same flight, they will cancel the Jumpseat res and you can expect to get a call crom the CPO about it. Not something a probie wants or needs.

This is prohibited by the company and will land you in hot water if pointed out.

Yes, although you may have to call the CPSC especially if its close to departure time.
