My guess is hiring will trickle as long as the flows are going on, not to put undue strain on the regionals. Once the flows are over for the year, they will go balls to the wall on hiring. My guess is they hire 500 off the street for every 100 flows/SSP/whatever.

One of the “higher-ups” was in a lounge the other day. He said the total furlough bypass that have committed to return as of this week was 137 – though he did mention that there is really no penalty if someone no-shows for class (so they really won’t know for sure how many are coming back until class day arrives.) He said roughly 15-20 guys have said they are NOT coming back. I *believe* he said they have until the end of the month to respond, and he said this is a “final call” for recall (i.e. you’re coming back or you’re resigning,) with limited exceptions.
He also had some interesting things to say about the leadership meeting. Apparently July was a VERY good month from a profit standpoint.

Merely that given the differences you see in Mil vs. Civ training, Mil guys are going to have a better time (generally) adapting to firehose style training...we see more of it. Once you get into sims, CRM tends to be a bit of a challenge at first for fighter types as we tend to do everything ourselves...inherent to our style of flying, but adaptation comes pretty quickly. Much like getting out of training and into the CAF, the learning curves tend to even out over time and then you are left to the personalities...
