Very true they could and may. But I think most had hoped they would get the opportunity to at least compete for job rather than just being shut out. It is lost on most of them, why the flows and guaranteed interviews exist. Why not just let everybody compete on their own merit. If the Compass, Mesaba, and Pinnacle pilots are what Delta is looking for they would get the jobs anyway through the normal process.
I sure there are plenty of regional guys that don't have a flow opportunities who would agree.

After completing my mainline interview nearly 6 years ago with Compass (then a Northwest wholly owned), I don't feel like there are many of the reasonably well informed that have a problem with us taking our promised 20 spots per month (I don't claim to know anything about the Mesaba/Pinnacle flows). We competed for our job back then and have endured a less than ideal ride through the DAL/NWA merger, sale of Compass, and being voted out of Delta ALPA waiting for our turn to move on. I and many other cpz flow-ups are ex-military and took what job was available without feeling we were entitled to more than any other qualified pilot. I just have to defend these pilot's, ex-mil and not, as being deserving of these class spots and feel it would be wrong to ask us to go back and compete for our jobs all over again.

Please don't get me wrong. I totally believe everybody is deserving of competing for jobs. And you right I don't understand how competing for a job at Compass 6 years ago means you were hired by Delta.(clearly I'm not reasonably informed) I do feel that if you worked for another regional or were coming out of the military you would not mind having the opportunity to compete with everyone though. I definitely would not ask you to go back and compete for a job at Compass again as you imply in the last sentence. Why would I do that you already have a job there.

Maybe "reasonably informed" came off as a slight....thats not how I meant it. I don't think the average line pilot at DAL knows a thing about Compass nor would I really expect them to. Compass guys with flow rights were interviewed and hired by Northwest (By Delta for the few with flow rights that were hired between the merger and the sale of cpz that ended the flow). So yes, being hired by compass means we were hired by Delta. I know many don't agree with that system and I guess that's why it was ended. But you shouldn't begrudge the few of us who were hired under that system the spots they were promised.

As a side note, I'm curious if Compass pilots will have to complete an application through Airline Apps. I understand you've got the interview offer, but I'd hope there was an application the company would have to reference on the day of the interview.

Are the class spots set aside for you, or do you have to interview. If you have to interview then aren't you competing for the job? Is it your opinion that that is wrong?

Thanks. From the memo that came out yesterday it implied they would have to interview, but it did not state that explicitly.
