All about timing.
What are you talking about? A military flow in the late 80's, I had not heard of that.
How did you get from that statement that there was a "military flow" in the 80's? Just curious?

Sorry about the poor spelling, on previous post. Not sure what I was thinking. My Bad!

Its hard to denote sarcasm in a post. What was the point of the 398 to 2 hiring ratio 80s. I did not see the relevance to competing for jobs argument.

I will be more clear in the future.

Also, I have not bashed on regional guys once. My Sky West son is sitting next to me.

SARCASM!! Got it that time!

My apologies for sounding slightly antagonistic. <no sarcasm> These Compass pilots, & a few more Mesaba pilots (67?) were PROMISED jobs at NWA when hiring started again. They were also told, "this is your only means of getting on with NWA"! (Compass guys/gals anyway.)

I find it difficult to read at times people (Delta pilots) complaining about these 367ish(?) flow-thru PROMISES when we have another 4500 pilots to hire in the next ten years. (There's a slight stench of, "lack of integrity" by those who are against the promises given to these pilots years ago.)

I wish your son, currently at Skywest, the best of luck & hopefully he gets picked up soon too.

Who (a name not a position) was telling people Compass was the only way to get to NWA? I see some parrot that statement on here and it seems ridiculous and would have seemed even more ridiculous at the time. I kept very on top of NWA hiring news back then and I never once heard that, even if I did I think it would be quite obvious that wasn't the case. Just the length of time it took to earn a flowup spot made it very likely there would be street hiring way before a single Compass pilot was eligible to flow. NWA was on the brink of some massive age 60 attrition at the time and no one at Compass was going to be anywhere close to flowing up yet.

All is good. Part of all of this-- is good banter among pilots. Thanks for the wish of luck for my son. He is hoping for the best. Little frustrated at this time, but who isn't, it's been a long 13 years for everyone.

Skywest is not a bad place to be stuck while in regional purgatory! I live out west now and nonrev or jumpseat on them quite a bit. How long has he been there? He's wanting to get to Delta I presume?

ALPA is trying to monopolize the hiring at DAL. If you don't come from the military or from an ALPA regional with an "agreement", good luck!

Even if you do, you're gonna need a lot of luck!

So after the MIL and furlough returns, THEN the flow start at 20 per month?

It seems that 20 per month leave room for hiring off the street to fill the other seats that might be open. The people that are flowing are not 100% of the classes right?

Military returns have nothing to do with flows. They can come and go anytime.
