That could be close if the class sizes hold. Unfortunately for off the street hires, small classes hurt their chances. In 2010 there were so many off the street because I believe they were hiring about 90 per month.

I absolutely agree with you. I was just trying to understand with the flow agreements how many off the street new hire spots would even be available. Also can Delta reject every guaranteed interview Pinnacle pilot so they can get a few Mil guys in? or do they have to hire a percentage of the ones they interview.

I don't believe Delta will just interview SSP pilots and not hire. They(Delta) want this to work so they can keep PCL staffed. Plus they would have to interview over 2000 pilots in this hiring cycle which I don't think they will do. Every pilot gets 2 attempts. I know the Delta pilots don't like the SSP deal but management does so I don't see this being an empty promise. I hope.

Does the ssp start immediately or do we wait until the furloughs are called back. The way I thought it was that if delta has a class the ssp is part of it. We don't even know the details of the ssp yet though so hopefully we get them soon.

Unfortunately for us SSP pilots the order goes as CPZ flows, XJ flows, SSP. I asked this question during a road show and this was the answer I was given.

daldude and Jonny Drama thanks for the info. However, for those of us hoping for a chance at an interview that dont work at Compass, XJ or PCL; I have to say this is pretty disheartening. For most military, national (ie Spirit, F9 and G4) and other regional pilots it looks like yet another long year of waiting.

I guess I'll keep updating and hope for a lil' more hiring.

Good luck to everyone.

Guys,

From my notes from the March MSP base visit:

Training capacity. It was put out that we could sustain 60-70/month minimum for three years with surge capability at slower times. 60x12=720, 70x12=840, so with a few surge months above these numbers 1000/year should not be a problem.
201 guys still on bypass I think this is furlough only since he specifically mentioned “bypass” so it probably does not include MIL guys. Out of these 201 they were hoping for about 50 -60 to return.

When hiring starts it will be mostly flows: I think he said the first 20/month from Compass and then 9 month from Mesaba. Over 29/month will be off the street including the Pinnnacle dudes with preferential interviews. After the first few months of each year when Compass and Mesaba hit their annual limit (25%) all the new hires will be off the street.

They are anticipating the 717 and the M88 will be the new hire spots but when the movement hits high gear some new hires may go directly into the 737. No anticipation of New hires going into 757 and above like during the 2008 hiring cycle.
