I'm in the 3/3 class. We were never given the pick order, however, we are sitting in seniority order. I don't think anyone went around the room with a paper to figure out how the aircraft were doled out. What I can tell you is that it has followed the typical order of the previous classes. 737s, 320s, and 7ERs tended to all be the most popular. 320s ran out first because we only had 5 of them. 737s were next to go. 7ERs were gone midway through the drop. 717s were next to run out. I believe the last 11 had no choice but to take the MD-88. But with that said, MD-88s were sprinkled throughout the pick with several of the senior guys/gals taking it as their first choice.

Wasted some time calculating how many unbid F/O vacancies were left in each category (only NB and 7ER) after the AE that just posted. Thought there may be a few others interested in these numbers, so I'll post here, as it may be mostly relevant to new hires.
NYC: 7ER-127, 73N-105, M88-80, 717-70 (382 total)
ATL: 7ER-46, 73N-51, M88-45, 717-0 (142 total)
DTW: 7ER-56, 73N-25, 717-0 (81 total)
LAX: 7ER-48, 73N-21, 717-0 (69 total)
SLC: 7ER-23, 73N-17 (40 total)
SEA: 7ER-30, 73N-0 (30 total)
MSP: 7ER-5, M88-0 (5 total)
Calculation is based on vacancies posted, plus those that bid off, minus those that bid into category. Example, ATL-717B had 15 new vacancies available, 20 bid off, and 35 bid into the ATA-717, leaving 0 remaining. ATL-M88B had 40 new vacancies, 43 bid off and 38 bid into category, leaving 45 remaining.
I didn't post anything for the 320, because there were no new vacancies nor did they backfill any of the roughly 50 F/O that bid off the 320. That category is likely to be fairly stagnant in 2015 (but good times ahead with the delivery of 321's in 2016).
The unfilled vacancies are somewhat (with many caveats) of an indication of what future drops may look like and what categories may move the fastest this year. Though new hires will still predominantly get NYC, while future AE's will still likely be used to fill the vacancies at the other bases.

Ditto on the nice work. As an Atl320 Sep hire, I agree with the 320 assessment. It's been a nice ride the past 6 months, but our numbers should stabilize for the coming months. Happy to see the Atl717Bs finally getting some love. You said stagnant.

I think the lesson from the ATL717B stagnation for a new hire is to be careful about chasing a new category. Once they stop adding new seats, most everyone in category is seat locked and you're stuck where you are at with very little movement. I could see the same thing happening with LAX717B or SEA73NB, where guys think that the 717 will be a quick way to get to LA (or 73 to SEA) and instead they basically lock themselves out. I doubt that is the case yet as I think both categories are still growing.
Amazing how quick things change. 320 looked good a month ago, and now guys that picked it in the last couple classes may be stuck where they are at for a while. Last year, M88 was the quickest way to get to MSP, but now you can get there in a few months in the 7ER, while there are still a bunch of M88 guys that can't get there. The 7ER looks like a great play for a new hire right now (think about how ugly it looked when you were a new hire in Sep...) with so many unfilled vacancies every where, but eventually the train of new hires to the 7ER will come to a screeching halt as the 757 start to retire.
Bottomline for a new hire reading this, the best aircraft to get to where ever you want to go or gain seniority changes, sometimes monthly, so take anything you read on this forum with a grain of salt. And remember we are talking about stagnation in terms of months. Queue up anybody hired before 2014 on how they walked up hill in snow both ways to their sims during training, and saw no movement for years.

Even though there is no Delta pool currently, it sure is fun watching all of the class aircraft and base selections. Here is to hoping those updates will continue!
Are the indoc classes usually the 1st and 3rd monday of the month?

As it happens right now, yes. Though it might be more accurate to say every other Monday (sometimes Tuesday)...
