Heard from a CLCP a few days ago that Delta is planning to slow hiring from 900+/year (the last two years) to 700+/year in 2016.
If you're in the pool, keep your head up. It's going to be worth the wait. 2022 will be the year with largest group of mandatory pilot retirements in history.
Also, some other notes:
- E190 will be west coast to move some 717s back east
- 14 757s slated for retirement are going into mod/heavy mx, so we can expect them to stay for at least 5 more years
- Domestic 767s are slated to retire by 2018 (~17, I think...)

According to indoc they were approved for 700 through end of summer and this was before the 190 announcement was made. They anticipate it going up like the last 2 years, again, before the 190 announcement. Of course subject to change but I don't see how it couldn't go up now.

What they are approved for and what they actually end up hiring can be vastly different numbers. The usually lowball the approval so that it doesn't reflect poorly if you end up having to hire less. Last year they only approved 350 or so but hired many more than that.

Also, talked with a 'call back in 6 months guy' at church today and he said he'd heard that Delta is going to go with 4 smaller indoc classes a month vs 2 larger classes a month. Anyone have any intel on that?

There could be more from 27May--need them to chime in if they've been offered a spot in 19 Jan.
Cheers,

According to the December "Flying Ops Update" we have only hired 744 this year. (258 civilian, 374 military, 112 military/civilian). That 258 civilian includes the compass/endeavor pilots. Very little non-military off the street.
