You're right on all counts. Of course I couldn't live in SFO without being in the top 5%.. but nevermind that.
Let's all just be content with our lot in life because hey we are 1%'ers after all.. Just like Richard. I don't know about you Bender but I like nice things, and somehow or another I am always trying to improve my lot in life. Concessions of any sort do not make sense right now; save that for the next major downturn. |

And being in the top 5% you cannot buy nice things? You must like REALLY nice things.
Also according to: Income Percentile Calculator - Find Your Percent With WhatsMyPercent.com I am not in the top 5% =( I am at 56% nationally.. Of course I'm on first year pay. But it took me about 14 years to get this far. So yes, I care about not taking concessions right now so that hopefully someday I just might maybe get to have some REALLY nice things. |

Plantain-
These are very conservative numbers and the difference is only .6%. Still no adjustment for PTIX formula, just straight percentage reduction. http://nebula.wsimg.com/261f9778edd4...&alloworigin=1 |

How can someone who has been here for so long fall for this sales job?

Bender we are highly skilled, highly specialized trade union workers. There is no cardinal rule out there that says every time you negotiate a pay raise you have to give something up. Your typical office worker gets a pay raise, but doesn't have to haggle with their boss in terms of lets say, having to work more hours, give up vacation or sick time, etc cwithout the ability to do something about it. They just get a pay raise. If the company starts pulling some of their benefits (since they are non union), they leave the company for a better company with better pay and benefits.
We, as you know, can't do that without starting at the bottom somewhere else. This is why we are so heavily vested in our job protections. Our scope. Our work rules. Our sick and health care. Our vacation. Our hours of service. It all matters more than just the pay raise itself. If they offered us a contract extension with cost of living and inflation adjustments, it would be a drop in the bucket to the company. And even then, a contract extension isn't even a great thing considering were ALREADY operating under a CONCESSIONARY CONTRACT. But sadly that would be better than what were being offered right now. http://replygif.net/i/565.gif |

How can someone who has been here a year be so angry? Where will you be on second year pay?
I'm in top 2%. Thank you for the link. |
Bender while we're at it, Phuz may not be angry. But Im angry. When I see whats happening with scope and us letting the company be in compliance with the Atlantic JV and getting nothing in return but concessions, I get angry. When I see our Pacific flying, which is our next MAJOR frontier and our future CASH COW, being positioned as such that it will be a JV that mirrors the Atlantic, I get angry. This contract is rewriting the JV language so they can boiler plate it / rubber stamp it for Asia. You and I both know this. Phuz and I have widebody jobs that we want to look forward to. I didn't come here to be a 64 year old e190 CA or whatever the equivalent will be by then (no offense to anyone who does want to do it that late in life). We cant just be a holdings company that flies regional jets and outsources the majority of our international flying.

My prediction is that if this passes, the most senior guy on the E190 left seat will be a 5th year guy for the forseeable future. If you fly it as a 64 year old it will be because you WANT to. |
