The disagreement is whether the value sought should be short term or long term.

That's not their job. That kind of short term thinking generally leads to short term longevity in business. Management's job is to ensure a long term and profitable entity. Good share pricing generally follows from that philosophy.

There's no other way to look at it iahflyr. Stock buy backs and dividends do nothing for a company's future. It buys no R&D, employees or equipment. It is a complete waste.

That's incorrect. My future will be better off with a healthy company with good management and a solid business plan. Allegiant has an extraordinarily high stock price...but I wouldn't want to fly for them. Would you?

If Delta's stock price crashes without an underlying fundamental reason, it would represent a huge buying opportunity that many investors would see...thus reversing the price crash. If there is an underlying fundamental reason for the crash, no dividend or stock buy back will save you.

I'm a contrarian investor who hates airlines as investments. That's just me.

7er capt. Year 12 pay is $219 per hour.

At a generous average of 80 hours per month, your straight pay works out to

$219,240 per year.

So, it's your claim that for the year you are up 50K and for the end of the year, in 2.5 scant months, you will be $120K over that figure. Interesting projection there??

Quite the fantasy world you live in there.

But, whatever. If this is what makes you feel after the B K beat down

I am above him and have not worked all that hard. You need to know your contract and use it well.

Ya, you are wasting time explaining the obvious, it has been that way forever, if you don't think they wouldn't come down hard on the pilots you missed history. I'm not sure how much I paid in strike benefits to N/W, Continental, TWA, and EAL over the years, lots, Nobody came out.

Manager,

I am also already 20% above my annual straight rate - it can be done. The key is to do it without working too hard. Keep in mind this includes the Feb 14th PS check and the October PS advance.

He also maxed out his 401K so his company match of 15% gets converted into pay-rates. Throw in a bunch of green-slips and before you know it you have a pretty good year.

I flew with a MSP 767 FO who claimed he made 300k last year. He was working way to hard for me however.

If you live in base and work the GS you can do it. I am about 30% above straight line pay. I am not working that hard either to get there.

I know some NB captains that will be over $300k this year with GS. It can be done if you work your schedule and get a little lucky with GS.

That being said I look forward to big gains in the next contract in pay AND quality of life items.

I'm significantly above my annual rate guarantee as well- I work smarter, not harder by advantageous swaps and GS's. I also sure as heck don't adjust my pay rate for profit sharing (haven't we learned any better after a decade of losses?). The short staffing is more the reason for the big bucks than anything else. Otherwise there wouldn't be a 320 guy pulling in above 400 2 years in a row.
