How about $6 Billion?

How about $10 Billion?

Unrealistic?

How much more of YOUR pay and benefits are you willing to donate to the Shareholders?

Now, why are we not using the same strategy we used in 2000-2001, to RESTORE THE PROFESSION??

Or is that too unrealistic for you?

Guess what? It WORKED!

What was the pay raise in C2000?
I seem to remember people screaming at me that we were robbed and, wait for it, we were "spineless".

So what are you saying?

Did the strategy work or not?

Did we not get huge raises, and retroactive pay, or not?

I believe it was more than...4,8,3,3.

AND we had still had a retirement plan.

Interesting how many people come to the same conclusion about you isn't it.

I hear a LOT about the ME airline threat (legitimate), but nothing on what is just as important - the current negotiation and what we should be striving for. It's not the fight-for-me union I thought I was walking into. Seems like a personnel wing of the company itself.

Ted, welcome to the show, and keep asking questions.

Yes, right now, the ME3 is "The Threat" for all of us. I think that is probably why our MEC has been kissing RA's arse for years. Not that that is a bad thing, we need the A4A's MONEY to bribe our politicians to keep the ME3 out of all of our bigger cities. We can work together, with the A4A, to keep them out, hopefully, or we will go the way of the US Cruise Ship Industry.

That is why I think they have become a personnel wing of the company itself. They want to be on the 'same team' as the company. They don't want to pizz off the company, or they might not get invited to the next birthday party or ball game...

Part of the problem is, some of the guys running the Union, have not been line pilots for the last 10 years. They have not had to fly under the concessions they negotiated. The MEC Chairman from our last Bankruptcy Contract giveaway went to DC and is now a Lobbiest. Some of his Lieutenants are hoping they can get a DC gig too..if they just don't upset the apple cart.

So, it's up to us line pukes to call BS on the crap that's about to go down... again.

Carl and I have seen this movie too many times, I hope our new guys will see through the BS before it's too late.

If you need a Mentor, I'm available, I need crew too, so sack up and bring some beer, I'm almost out!

You'd rather be from the former American? Correct? I'm assuming not USAir or America West. And be there now?

Do you have any idea how many 777's they have?

Do you have any idea how much their retirement plans are worth?

You're lacking a strong debate strategy.

I'm not optimistic that many of your newest fellow line pukes will call BS on anything. They (we) aren't being courted by anyone (other than the company during indoc), and we're not being shown any historic or otherwise relevant data. I suspect a good number of the newbies are just happy to no longer fly 8 legs a day for food stamps. And another large chunk can't believe they can live stateside year-round without the risk of a 365-day remote non-flying tour. That can make any contract look pretty darn good and "fair".

Off on my beer run...
