During C2012 many on this board were advocating waiting for SWAPA. They've waited 3 years and are already 12% behind us in total comp. FedEx and UPS, the other two carriers that have been consistently profitable and in negotiations haven't raised the bar either.

Why are they so delayed?

Uhhhh, because they have more respect for their profession/dignity than to accept "cost neutral" offers during the good times.

Next question- "Yeah? How's that working out for them?

Answer- not too well for them, but with our profit sharing, we will do better without accepting the QOL concessions for an 8% pay raise and reintroducing labor risk to our stock valuation.

Everyone needs to read 1.e.9. Why would this even be in there?? In one fell swoop, we're a virtual airline, selling our profession for a few bucks to the Chinese who will gladly fly Delta widebody airplanes in lieu of us. Why has this not been mentioned? Another reason for the rush job...

Did the MEC vote twice on the TA? I've heard it was voted on and did not pass, but was voted on a second time after an "administrative break".

Any truth to this?

No. Not true. There was one vote taken, and it was 11-8.

Why hasn't your plan worked out for the other companies? SWA has profit sharing and a strike committee. I know FedEx has a strike committee. I don't know about UPS.

btw, 8% is the early raise. Net increases in the agreement are over $1.1B according to the negotiators.

How about truth to the rumor that fewer MEC members want the TA to fail (don't recommend it) than pass...but the majority wanted all pilots to make it so?

A road show including the recommendations of the MEC wouldn't hurt, and it would be telling if those who own the TA actually think it stinks.

Look, the concessions suck. I do not like the sick leave change or the LCA change. But we still get 14 days of sick leave no questions asked. And 270 a year for whatever you want with a note. Shouldn't affect anyone. If you need surgery get a note and get it done. If you're sick you're covered for 270. Sick leave has some improvements too.

LCA OE PBS pulls - an argument could be made that this is a big deal for FO's. They will have to judge that against the pay raise, etc. I'm not going to preach for this change. I don't like it.

The 5 cent a year change in per diem is based on 2% inflation. It basically stays the same. BFD. Lots to be concerned about but not per diem.

Bottom line: I like the $50,000 a year improvement and, while it's a tough call, I think this TA might be worth it.

Listen Mark, I don't care if you are on flight pay loss or not, you are redirecting and downplaying the serious concessions in the contract and keep bringing up money which isn't where it should be anyway.

These other items are a BFD's! The lifeblood of a pilots legal right to fly are his medical records. I as sure as hell don't want the company messing with mine for any reason. Before we even start to talk about pay rates, the ability of the company to demand access to my medical records under ANY circumstances needs to be removed! Wasn't there a time when ALPA stood for safety. Intimating pilots to not call in sick is the antitheses of what that organization should be about.
