The clowns on the 4th floor think that anyone who uses more than 20 hours of sick leave per year is an "Abuser".

You have to remember that the clowns on the 4th floor can all come to work when they have a head cold or a sprained ankle. Pilots, not so much.

Oh, the 4th floor guys also get to sleep in their own beds every night, get all weekends and holidays off too.

Pilots didn't even get "Holiday Pay" in this POS TA.

I have many friends on the 4th floor. They all say that there are ~1800 pilots who "regularly abuse" the sick leave. The company has the list and is unhappy, especially when the guys call in sick right before the trip.
BUT this is waaay overkill!
They should identify these 1800 pilots and give them all a month off without pay. July is good month. I wonder if I short notice call in sick for my next two trips, is there time to be added to list?

Since I been hired there were always subsets of Delta pilots that allegedly abused sick leave. (I'm sure there groups before my time as well). First it was the Western guys. Then the PanAm guys. Now it is anyone who they add to the list.

For the last 10 plus years management has really cranked this up. Management keeps accusing, arresting, trying, convicting and punishing the entire pilot group as sick leave abusers. If, big IF, the number is roughly 18-20% of the working pilot group, management created the problem by their behavior. And their answer? Keep getting harsher.

If you are healthy and never call in sick. Good for you. I still my health, and at my age now know how valuable that is. How do I know? I have watched/helped/guided several friends/pilots through illness and accidents.

The answer is not more horse manure from the seagulls both on the fourth floor and the ALPA building. It is about treating the 99.X% of Delta pilots who do a phenomenal job with the proper respect. That includes a great contract and shutting up about sick leave abusers. The problem will then go away. At that point they can deal with the .X%.

Well, that's obviously a lie. LCA trip pull has nothing to do with staffing and everything to do with money.

Another way for us to self-fund the rate increase.
Its worse than that. According to Barons, our raises are MORE than offset by profit sharing changes. They can give us a raise, and still save more than 85 million dollars a year!

Scheduling thinks you're abusing sick leave any time you call in sick regardless of your history and situation and doctor bill in hand.

No matter what, it is far far worse than the measly 150 or so pilots affected that they threw to us at the MEC meeting. Every FO gets affected by this as well as junior CAs as game theory takes hold and bidding strategies change as premium pay is cut.
Actually 80, the 150 number is probably right. I did the math. In a category with 140 total pilots 150 of them are ******. Now, how many categories do we have?6

Wait, how many FOs do we have? That's the number ******.

Plus all the new hires we don't have to hire. Add that to the mix.

The amount of seagulls at this airline is staggering. Plus all the other admin types, it is a wonder we don't have to file for BK again. Thousands of folks drive to the GO every day, mostly to drink coffee and pretend they are busy.

I think that credit Susie and Bloomberg analysis looked at only pay and ps and probably didn't take into account productivity increases.

So this probably is a cost negative contact. Whichever rep said the company overreached was right.

I hadn't thought of that Carl. I was simply curious as to what his motivation was to carry so much water for the Company. I thought perhaps his identity would offer an answer. I trust my brief foray into message boards wasn't the cause of his banishment as it seems that there was some past history. I suppose banishment is an answer unto itself.

The question is can we get the point across to all those blinded by the grossly unsat 8/6/3/3 to see the whole picture in time for the vote? Sadly, I only really know new hire/non voters and the voters I know are all already a No vote. Schedule permitting I will go to the PTC roadshow to watch the floor show. What do you need to gain admittance? Just Delta ID or do I have to try to find my ALPA card?
