UAL VICE CHAIRMAN on DAL TA (interesting..)
#71
It was the work rules that made this a nicer place to work than other airlines. I've told numberous guys this is a nicer place to work than NWA......why would we want to ruin that? Where are the "keep Delta my Delta" guys?

Is that better?
I'd rather keep the 240 sick hours, +60 hour FAA buffer.
I'm really not feeling that work rules are about to get terrible if this thing passes. Just not feeling' it.

I think it's pretty funny that a United guy would assail our T/A. Remember, they wanted Delta + a dollar. Way to raise the bar, guys, way to raise the bar. I have friends and family over there, they can't believe we would complain about our work rules. Maybe the next time around they'll demand Delta plus a dollar. Because -you know- they are so successful!
You are deflecting. We are discussing our TA. How do you like it?
Are we raising the bar, or lowering it back towards the others?

I think my UAL 10-year cousin stated that he gets 80 hours of sick leave and 5 weeks of vacation.
Is that better?

Your feelings will never trump what is written in a legal contract.

5 hours of sick leave a month.. 60 hours a year.
I wish we had your (current) program.
A couple of colds/flu a year, an ache and all of a sudden, you have used 30-40 hours in the year.
It will take you about 7 years to build up a buffer to get you to LTD based on normal sick usage. Less if you don't call in sick but fly sick!

CAL Management offered CAL Pilots Delta +1$ back in March 2010. Shortly BEFORE the merger. It was rejected in force by the Pilot Group.
Yes, the Contract in '12 was (and still is) a matter of contention by many people. Fear was used by both sides of the union and while it made gains for both pilot groups in many areas.. it also kept status quo in others and actually went backwards in a couple of sections.
At the end of the day, I hope this TA is voted down by you guys as-
1) You are worth more
2) You are giving up items while making gains in others.. during a time when your company is leading the pack with regards to profits
3) You have leverage.. why "settle"?
Funny thing was- our "union" sold our contract as one that 'will exceed Delta in 2017!' and 'the A380 payscale ensures that Delta Management will have to pay their pilots more for that Aircraft!'. I kid you not~
Good Luck Delta Pilots.
Always

Our 767-300 rates are out of whack because UAL had a bunch of 767-300s pre-merger, so they got pay banded down by CALs negotiating committee to CALs 757s so that we wouldn't look like an airline with much larger aircraft, which ultimately failed. They only looked at aircraft and not payrates as CAL had put all their money on.
Now we suffer stupid paybanding that no one else has and lower payrates in "certain" fleets".
So when you are comparing just remember all things are not equal.
