"Notes from the ATL PUB Event with MD:
1. Kudos to MD for showing up. I know it wasn't easy to walk into that room, and he is in day 1 of recurrent. I would challenge anyone to come to recurrent, deal with all the ALPA work, attend this meeting, then go into the simulator the next day and perform. Cudos for that.
2. Lots of anger in the room. Lots of direct and specific questions to MD that in my mind, and many there, were deflected and or just not answered.
3. MD says the airplane order was canceled. I specifically asked him to clarify that because I read that RA said they "will" be cancelled. His answer was the board cancelled them. I bet him a beer and shook on it that we would see the A/C order in the next year. I hope he buys.
4. I asked him what his future was leading the Delta Pilots. He said that was up to the members of the MEC.
5. I asked him why the meeting on the 21st was in VA, and he said that the meeting location was determined a long time ago, and that it was because of the ALPA safety conference. He further added that Delta pilots are getting a lot of awards that he has to present. He said, "put that on Social Media, it's not a conspiracy!"
6. I asked him why he had not sent out a letter in defense of the pilots, supporting our group and explaining why we overwhelmingly defeated the TA. He said the letter was written, and that it was going to be sent out tomorrow (7/16). I told him that in my opinion, it was too late.
7. He bought up Social Media multiple times. I assure you he will read this post, as will many of the "others" will. Social Media has become a game changer in the ALPA process. I got the impression that MD believes Social Media miss-information killed the TA. All the Social Media outlets are being read by many people. In my opinion, Social Media will now forever play a major roll, one way or the other, in any future deal.
8. He stated that this was the Best and Final offer. I asked him what that meant. He said we will not get a better deal and that the money was good, and don't expect that offer of money again.
9. The Delta MEC Treasure was there and confirmed that the TA "effort" cost north of $750,000.00.
10. Professional negotiators were brought up. His response was that he firmly stood behind the negotiators, the negotiation process, and did not want them replaced.
11. Many of the pilots in attendance voiced that they thought the TA was a slap in the face, that it should have never passed the MEC, and that they didn't feel appreciated like "Delta Family". MD said it's a business, not a family.
12. Great food. No shrimp. 50ish people in attendance.
Exciting times ahead. Stay engaged, it's your future."

If he's reading this, I invite him to come on here and tell us what information was misleading, or mis informed.
It took me 5-7 minutes to get a P2P guy to finally tell me that our 1/1/16 pay raise was to be funded by our profit-sharing.
Vacation pay vs. credit. Disability accounts. The sick leave debacle. The DPA FedEx paper. Please.
Someone might be projecting.....

He's just angry because his future has been threatened. There's no question he and others in his administration have been purchased with unknown currency. He OWES it to those that bought him. He's angry as hell that we've disrupted those plans and he WILL do everything in his power to stay in power and punish us. He must keep his promises to those that have bought him.

Management and ALPA like to say that we will be out of line with our peers if we got too great of a pay raise. I contend that we do not have a peer in the industry right now. Because of the way we merged we are a few years ahead of our competitors (AA and UAL).
Additionally it doesn't seem to bother management that they make an good deal more than the management of our competitors. Every other employee group at Delta is back above their pre give back wages. The FA group is approx 6% above and I would bet that is about the amount the other groups are also. It seems punitive to me that the group that has given the most to the recovery effort is somehow left behind. Last I checked we still lag our 2004 payrates by 18%

More evidence that a change in leadership is needed. How can a smart guy like MD be this clueless? I think maybe Carl is right - MD is clued in but he is on a mission and will not be dissuaded until it's accomplished.

They don't want to essentially turn the MEC Facebook page back into the old DALPA forum. Good luck with that.

Mike, if you're reading this, save the money and refer to the original survey. That's what we want/expect. Tamping down expectations is a proven loser....65-35 proven.
