I think saying Malone never blinked could be debated. LOA 46 was under his watch, which included a 30 something percent paycut, as well as a gutting of our work rules, too numerous/painful to quickly regurgitate. The mantra pushing this LOA was "Do it once/do it right.". Unfortunately it didn't quite work out that way.

John is very intelligent. I suspect that given the funding reality on the frozen plan he would have done what Moak did. Try and extract the maximum value from the termination for every pilot.
USAIR fought their termination to the end and ended up with nothing except the PBGC minimums. Their plan was better funded then ours.

The funny thing however is I would be fine with JM as chairman. He understands reality and would do a good job. He also is very intelligent. There have been a few names thrown out that would scare me to death in that regard. Ken Watts or JM would work for me.

Which part? The largest pay cuts in the history of Delta (32.5%) or allowing the E170/175 at DCI?
