The whole key here is to make sure we don't let the "pro-active" and "constructive" guys get back in control of the MEC.
We need to make sure we keep a majority of reps who are willing to say no to management.

That has most definitely abrogated the seniority system.

Isn't there a stipulation that if you're >125 mi from the VB you get positive space to and from rotations? Couldn't this senior Dallas bidder bid for that and not have to worry about the commute for the duration of the VB?

How does this differ from home basing?

It might not be good for me personally, but maybe it is good for someone else. It just seems to me that there is a bunch of altruism around here except on this issue. Greenslips are good for those that live in base. Commuters, notsomuch. maybe we need to change that too.

I say we do the test period and if the company wants to continue it then it apparently has value and we have them pay again or pull it down. I would imagine that is what the bean counters would do if it was reversed.

It's a good question and no offense taken.

Commuters lose no seniority in commuting. They have made a voluntary choice to use their seniority to enable their commuting lifestyle. VB will remove trips from the bid package which somebody who hasn't bid a VB (both commuters and those who live in domicile) would have had access to.

Example: Senior commuter lives in Dallas and uses their seniority to bid double commutable NYC trips. VB established in Tampa. Would if it pulls crappy non commutable trips out of the bid package and the VB pilot is senior to the commuter?

Don't need too. They just pull out of the test program. Boom, it's over.

Denny

Hence the entire point of it being a test program.

Some claim the company wants it to eliminate 30 hour layovers. Some might consider that a good thing. It might be possible that a category with a VB ends up with a higher average trip value. That could be a good thing.

Wouldn't it be nice to know before hand?

Mike you started the tread and have been spot on.

Sailing, JB and others are totally playing the management pilot role/card.

It's just one of the poison pills in the TA. It's completely undefined. Oh Ya it's calcellable?

Why is there any aspect to allow this? Get your heads out your asses! The company does not ask or work any angle unless it is in favor for them.
