Some shrinkage of 9E in MSP could easily account for that.

Certainly looks like we're losing ground in MSP. Makes me wonder about those 717 rumors. Originally the thought was that they would upgrade Regional flying, but reading that article it seems likely that they could start substituting for Mad Dogs and Little Busses, while the 737 substitutes for ER flying.

Purely as a passenger, I prefer DTW over MSP for DAL flying.

Why? Not being a jerk, genuinely curious why as I would think MSP is better simply based on my non-passenger experience.

Delta is making a yuuugeeee mistake IMO, not because DTW is better suited, but because MSP is a huge money maker. There is a huge number of fortune 500 companies there (per capita at least) that bring in big bucks and high valued customers. Apparently Delta figures, just keep the frequency, reduce the size and call it good...watch when "the others" take over a large portion and Delta will be left scratching their heads.

Mainly because the 4 concourses around the central hud can be confusing to someone who doesn't use the airport frequently. When you have a bank of flights arrive the central hub gets pretty chaotic.

DFW seems more streamlined and passenger friendly.

Think about it like this:

If a passenger asks you where their gate, or baggage claim is, what are the different possibilities you could come up with in MSP?

In DTW your answer is either, "Right down there." or, "Go to the middle of the terminal and turn left/right."

DTW is easy compared to MSP.

Think about an older person trying to connect from Southwest to an RJ flight. If they timed it right and the G connection was closed, they would need to take 3 train rides, walk a half mile and consume 45 minutes.

In the summer they let the temp get up to 80 degrees in the terminal.

Imagine a 10 hour power outage because the airport operator never put a load on the backup generator. All the toilets and urinals require power to flush. People were using the sinks out of necessity.

KCM has moved so many times I lost count.

Yes the airport has some nice shopping and food options. In virtually all other respects KMSP is a great case study for failed civil engineering and mismanagement.

Several good points but I'm not feeling sorry for anyone who tries to connect from SWA to an RJ (hard enough to go from our mainline to an RJ at MSP) That would be a project at DTW as well.
