Default 65% to Delta...why so low?

I was wondering what everyone's opinion is on why only 65% of Endeavor pilots who interview with Delta get hired. This is worryingly low. Anyone hear first hand from someone who *didn't* get hired and why they think they weren't? Conversely, anyone hear of someone who was hired and why they think they were?

Well they can't hire everyone. There is no great answer to this question. They've hired some great folks....and they also hired some really bad ones. The SSP is a disaster in my opinion. It should have never been negotiated. I will say though that I'm happy for the(good/nice/normal) ones that were offered a job.

The latest info from Delta indicates a 68% pass rate YTD for all applicants.

It's accurate if you count people who were hired after their 2nd attempts. 40% probably got it on their first try. Also their were plenty of people who either didn't bother to interview or didn't really prepare much. Of course their are people Delta should have hired and didn't but a lot of people that prepared well were successful and might not have even had the opportunity to interview without the SSP.

Its pretty simple. When Delta, or any company for that matter, hand picks a resume to interview a candidate, they really want to hire that candidate because on paper, they meet all of the requirements and have chosen that specific candidate for an interview. With Endeavor's guaranteed interview, they don't get that chance. They are basically being forced to interview someone without choosing to do so. Given this dynamic, there may be a stricter standard, you may have to "wow" them a bit more to get through the gate. This is not to say that Endeavor pilots are any less qualified that off the street candidates, as a matter of fact, the great majority of pilots at 9E are excellent candidates for Delta. Its just that 9E pilots have not been "selected" for an interview and I think that makes a difference in the outcome.

While this entirely true, you can't help but laugh at the absurdity of Delta telling an Endeavor pilot that they are not quite qualified to fly Delta passengers on Delta airplanes... so please go back to Endeavor and fly Delta passengers on Delta airplanes.

Full disclosure... I'm DGI not SSP so no axe to grind. Just pointing out the irony.

The sad thing is, I've flown with a lot of guys who I would say were absolutely fantastic pilots, excellent leaders, and/or decent human beings that were turned down. Delta can have their reasons, but my problem is that they don't tell you what the reason is. So you have no idea what it is that turned them off or how you can improve for interviews with other companies. Most CA's with the double no are also very professional and simply resigned to their fate. It's depressing to watch.
