I would assume that had to do with the bases over anything. DEN, ORD, and STL over DTW and RDU

DC regional jets allowed.
From my understanding of Delta’s scope, Delta Connection is maxed out at 450ish regional jets. Of that number there is a max number of 76 seat RJs. I aso believe Delta has or had a provision that allowed for the addition of 76 seat regional jets, with addition of “small” narrow body jets to the mainline fleet. My understanding is this was used when mainline got the B717. With the addition of the A220 narrow body jet, does that potentially unlock the provision which could add more 76 seat RJs should Delta desire more larger RJ’s? Rumor is long term Delta wants to get away from 50 seat jets as much as possible, in order to have and sell premium seats. Just curious if or how mainline’s fleet tracking also affects Delta Connection and by extension EDV’s fleet plan.
Not to start a big debate about United. From my understanding United has a similar provision in their scope contract, but mainline refuses to add any small narrow body mainline jets. Thus United Express is capped on 76 RJs, and can only add 50 seat jets. Since Delta Mainline is adding the A220, it seems like Delta Connection numbers could be changed around. At least as their contract stands today. |

I think we can certainly expect to see more of this soon. Especially for 200 and 700s.
