35 x 76-seaters
ML guy here...with the flow agreement with Compass no more, and I’m going to assume that no DC carrier would agree to sign one with Delta right now, what are the rumors about which DC carrier will have to park the 35 x 76-seaters?
Our contract specifically mentions parking jets with max takeoff weight of 86,000 or less, so I assume the 36 x E-175 with the 89,000 max are safe? I hope it’s not you guys, but I’m not sure if being the wholly owned vice Skywest/ Republic is helpful or hurtful in this situation. TIA! |

About the only concrete thing we’ve been told is we don’t know how this and scope in general will unfold moving forward, but the 35 jets from the flowback clause could be parked from one DCI carrier or a combination of carriers to achieve a total of 35. I don’t know if there is any overlap—ie if the 717/nb Fleet were reduced to the point that 40 large RJs needed to be parked, would parking those 40 “include” or count for the flowback 35, or would the flowback 35 need to be in addition to other scope-related restrictions? I don’t speak lawyer and my crystal ball hasn’t been working well this year. |
It might be better for Delta to just pay out grievances for scope violation in the short term and continue operating more RJs.

The union stated delta may try to violate this clause since it was a Compass agreement and Compass no longer exists. Endeavor shouldn’t be affected because of some BS agreement between Compass and Northwest back in the day. Same applies to Skywest and Republic. It should be renegotiated (aka disregarded.)

Good idea, then DALPA can shrink scope, meaning more mainline jobs for us.

Republic has about 12 of the Compass birds that never got conformed and Skywest has 3 that never got conformed. In addition I believe 6 republic 170s come off contract in 2020 so it seems it would be smart to not conform and spend the money on these airplanes and just remove 6 seats from 6 of republics 175s which would bring them down to about 20 76 seaters and only a need to find 15 more.
There was a townhall yesterday and it was mentioned that Delta is not even talking about a flow down with any carrier and it's not even on their radar but DALPA is watching these airplanes very closely to make sure they are in compliance. |
