I will never move to NYC, and commuting to sit in a crummy Kew Gardens crashpad isn't fun.
NYC for a year? No, but I'm willing to sit reserve in DTW as soon as I can hold it for whatever length of time that may be.

Isn't that a possibility?

It's possible, but not guaranteed.

Why not sacrifice short term for long term and move close to base. Work as much as possible, pick up anything and everything, and get to a better situation quicker instead of leaving and starting all over again at another regional.

I may be wrong but it seems like the guys who live in or near NYC have been flying more often. Please correct me if I’m wrong in that assumption.

Because my wife would probably divorce me.

Yes you should - nobody comes to the internet to say how happy they are. The tune would be very different if our real name was attached. 9E is a good decision and you more than likely will not regret it.

And ATL has less than 50% RSV lines to hard lines. There are a lot of us in NY that live down south that would like to be based in ATL

If I was you I’d go elsewhere your going to be stuck in NYC for at least a year probably more I would guess and if you do make it to DTW your going to sit reserve forever. The upgrade times are going to slow drastically without much movement from the top I will say interviews for the DGI are starting but sounds like classes aren’t coming until spring at the earliest. Growth at Endeavor seems like a fairytale and more then likely is just too keep people in the seats and coming through the door. The guys in here that tell you NYC isn’t so bad are probably the same nut jobs that pay 1500 for a one bedroom apartment so they can live in New York.

“Nut Jobs” what? Every pilot is in a different situation. Some are old, some are young, some are single, some are married, some have flight school debt some don’t. There are plenty of regional guys willing to pay 1500 per month which in turn allows them to potentially fly more. Why be so negative towards people who choose that route.

I would love to be able to live near a base but I don't have one near me, no matter what airline I chose. RDU is the closest base of any airline and it's GoJet. Not that I have a problem with GoJet, but it seems many do and I don't need anything going against me that I didn't cause.

So for me, I will have to commute. I would rather have an apartment than a crash pad. I could keep my crap there and not have to worry about it being stolen/used (aside from robbery). Gives me something to do when I am on reserve and not being used. I also considered getting an RV and finding a place within the callout window to live. I could get the same effect of an apartment but have something at the end of it to use later, plus little projects to do on the RV itself while sitting around bored.

You're saying I won't be able to hold DTW for a year after hire? I heard DTW was attainable roughly out of training or soon after.
