Day 2 consists of the MMPI and talking to a shrink. You also do drug tests, finger printing and badging.

Does YX, OO try to convince the passenger it no different from DL?

Last I checked EV, YX, OO Fly for other companies. If I’m not mistaken CA was offered a flow. There’s that word again.
When you use the argument that the reason you can't turn someone down is that they will go back to flying Delta passengers on Delta owned aircraft, the flow is the only way that wouldn't leave that line out there. EV used to not fly for anyone other than Delta and were a wholly owned. But really, why does it matter if they fly for other carriers too? They still fly Delta passengers on Delta owned aircraft. If you're going for that as the standard, they meet it too. There is only a single mainline carrier that accepts all wholly owned regional pilots, and that is AA.

You can also probably thank CA for the regional industry even existing, thanks to their proposal for a DOH seniority integration with DL, which caused DALPA to go scorched earth and keep them separate rather than towards an integration. Later, they were offered preferential hiring in exchange for accepting furloughed Delta pilots without requiring seniority resignation and then once again demanded a seniority integration that recognized their "efforts and contributions" (that or give up all scope when it came to Comair).

87% is a much better number than under the other programs, I'm not saying it couldn't or even shouldn't be better. I'm just saying that "go back to flying Delta passengers" isn't a good argument. Talk about all the great people who get turned down and then snapped up by other airlines but would have been an asset to Delta. Not an argument that makes it sound like Delta might think they are unsafe pilots but can't terminate them from the regional easily enough.

MMPI plus a talk with a shrink, that sounds like overkill.

It may be overkill, but they are looking for consistency from what you divulged on your app, review of MMPI results, and your overall demeanor in a one on one scenario with semi-uncomfortable questions. Are you going to get defensive? Well that might not line up with the MMPI results or vice versa. Again, consistency.

In my admittedly small sample size I’d say that most FFDO’s were more on the nutty side. Just sayin.

Depends. Do they hunt, or do they sport shoot on the side? If yes, then they're probably cool.

Is this the first time that they've had a gun, or did they attend ERAU? If yes, then they're probably an ***hat.

I’ve never flown with an FFDO whom I didn’t think had a high likelihood of spazzing out and putting 4 or 5 rounds through me if he ever had to draw his weapon.

I do a lot of sport shooting, and it hasn't even crossed my mind to become an FFDO. Who would want to add another layer of complexity on to this job?

I would be very impressed if someone could shoot an HK sideways that many times without dropping it after the first fire.
