Born and raised in Minnesota. Lived in the state for over 2 decades until recently moving for a new job. It’s been a breath of fresh air leaving the old stomping grounds. Are the people “good people”? Absolutely, but not if you’re an outsider coming in. We already have our friend groups from high school and college. It’s sadly not a very welcoming state. Everything I stated sarcastically is true, sadly.

My bad, I didn't look at the names and thought you were the same poster asking about moving to MSP. I just skimmed what you wrote about about friendly people and good spring weather and was like ... LOL. The sarcasm obviously makes sense now.

Definitely not an outsider, first of the friend group leaving for the airlines. Most are coming here as well. So basically scoping out the area. Before the rest come along.still early 20s

Having bounced around in the military, I will say this is untrue everywhere. There are always welcoming people. You just have to find them by being the kind of people who others want to welcome. When in Rome, goes far. And maybe lose the politics you moved in with, until you get the lay of the land.

I have never failed to make new family anywhere I have lived. I've lived in sheetholes and I've lived in rich snobvilles.

You move to a new place and meet a few *******s. Ok, it happens. You move to a new place and everyone's an *******? Guess what? You're the *******.

Lol we’re not discussing any other place other than Minnesota. But thanks for the lecture to who ever you think that applies.

Who puts themselves out there more than positive vibed FA’s. I still don’t know where anyone gets that much energy. I’ve had multiple discussions with FA’s at my old airline, which I was MSP based, on “how do you make friends in MSP? I’ve never had this problem”. We’re talking about a different animal. We have cultural trust issues that stem back to our Scandinavian heritage.

If you know the area I’d recommend staying away from Minneapolis, specifically the uptown area. Dinkytown is too young for you. St. Paul is a very unrated spot, and a quicker drive to MSP through Highway 5.

DT St. Paul and Seventh Street West is a really good night out scene, especially during weekends the Wild are playing.

When I got back from college. 4 buddy’s and I rented out a house near Grand Ave (St. Paul). That was an awesome 2 years.

Also the state has a phenomenal spending budget (very disciplined) with the small amount of taxes you will contribute for the betterment of society. Check example #1 below:

Default Looking for some recent info

Hey guys , looking for a little insight on the day to day.

How is the flight deck environment, are most guys decent to fly with?

any guys recently through training? How is the training environment?

I’ve never worked PBS before, how hard is it to hold some weekend days off on reserve?

Any bases to try and avoid ?

Thanks for any heads up on the culture there
