Bartok, why did Delta spend over a billion dollars (billion with a b) only to shut them down? Delta sometimes just doesn't care. It's a small price they paid to end and break out of 140 CRJ-200 flying 2-3 years earlier than planned. On fuel costs alone they will save more than 62 million by parking these 50 seaters earlier.

It was a different world in 1999 and I don't think Delta spent $2.3 billion dollars then to shut them down.
And didn't Comair only have about 15 200's when they shut down? And how many of those are still being flown in Delta colors?
Doesn't make sense to my premise.

Comair's demise started well before 2012. In fact, how many times did they have to take paycuts of some sort? Wasn't it 3 separate times? And each time, their fleet shrunk. The point is 62 million is just pocket change when it comes to Delta, and when it comes to letting go of 140 CRJ2s several years earlier, it's actually a money-saver.

You are referring to 9E's 140 200's, right?
And Delta never intended on collecting the $62 million, that the sale of XJ to Pinnacle and the ensuing merger was on purpose to push 9E into bankruptcy so they could get out of the 50 seat business faster?

Bartok just proves that the average 9E pilots thinks they' re the special ones
But then ignores Delta's history towards DCI carriers. O thats right its a different time!!

The acquisition of 9E by Delta is nothing like when Delta paid $2.3 billion dollars for Comair.
And there is nothing average 9E about me..............I'm XJ.

Which should be even more of a red flag! They bought Comair for more money and still shut them down. And before the comment about it took years to shut down, they started transferring chunks of flying to other airlines well before last year. That brings up another subject....XJ AND 9L no longer exist, YOU ARE 9E now. There is a reason 600 people have left or are trying to.
