Stop trying to reason! This is a Colgan bash thread!!

They are dangerous pilots!

Oh yeah - they are an alter-ego carrier! Scabs!!

Oh please. What an ill-informed post. Colgan existed because 9E bought them. Had it not been for the 9E buyout Colgan would have gone poof back then. After the purchase, the Qs flowed to a non-union Colgan while union Pinnacle was downgrading and displacing under a 9 year old contract while being told the ALPA proposal would bankrupt the company. This is straight from Union-Busting 101. But I guess you guys were too busy upgrading at 1500 hrs to see that. Oh and it's 9E's fault that Colgan hired the CA of 3407? Failed him along every possible training/checking event and put him in command that night? Sorry, but all those missteps belong to Colgan and Colgan alone. Colgan was an embarrassment to the airline industry and good riddance it's gone.

Because all of that was the Colgan pilot groups fault. But please lets continue to fight eachother over things we have no control over.

It's interesting how we managed to pass this crappy contract but yet keep fighting and disagreeing on forums. I have to admit...management did their job.

1. Reduced the cost of pilot group
2. Consolidated 3 groups into 1
3. Have 3 groups hate each other
4. Removing old airframes for newer

Next step...package 9E up real nice and pretty to be sold to make a decent ROI. Can't wait to fight again over SLI.

Back before 3407 Colgan really was an abomination of a company. They treated their employees like complete garbage and yet pilots kept lining up with stars in their eyes to be a "real" airline pilot. Bad maintenance, lack of hiring standards, outsourced training, an up and out atmosphere with little to no mentoring, and a management that was more than willing to cut corners. The only reason people were willing to put in time there was the quick upgrade and to play the lottery to be the 1% of people who went to a major after 2 yrs.

I am sure they had some good people in their group but they became the magnet for the oddballs and people who literally couldn't get hired anywhere else. Pilots are our own worst enemy. Colgan survived to be bought out by Pinnacle while Comair get shuts down. PSA gets a new contract and Eagle... The bad companies thrive and there is that same line of dumb pilots lined up around the corner. The blame needs to fall on the people that keep these bad companies operating and thriving.

I just heard a captain around the 140 seniority was offered an interview for the SSP. In case anyone was wondering how far down the list they went. I am not sure if he was the last to be offered.

That is not true. As a legacy Colgan pilot who has first hand experience of what you are talking about I have to say that you are spewing complete garbage. Does Colgan have a few knuckleheads? Yes, but so does ExpressJet. Colgan had a very capable pilot group, unfortunately a couple bad apples do spoil the bushel, so we will never shake that reputation.

I think the crazier thing is - is that you have this obsession with Colgan all these years after they came with Q400s into Newark and "stole" XJT flying. It was 7 years ago! Get over it!
