The words they used in the business update were pretty vague. If I was looking to get hired on at a regional I would need something more definitive. When they can't fill classes which I don't think at this point they can things will change. Maybe then a wind down date will be given or a true flow through will be offered. It costs Delta nothing to offer a flow in fact it saves them money by not having to interview as many people. Having to shut us down because of staffing does cost them money because the lift we provide will be more expensive, hence costing them money. And it's all about the money.

They don't have one of their carrots (or sticks) if they announced 9E was keeping a definite amount of 200's.

It's why we'll never see DAL institute a flow through agreement.

It costs them in terms of erosion to their culture, which is VERY expensive in the long run. One bad pilot can cost an airline 100s of thousands of dollars throughout a pilot's career with excessive sick calls, training issues, and other abuses of the system. The cost of interviewing and selecting the right pilot at DAL is about $2500. If I were a legacy carrier like DAL, I'd rather pay the $2500 up front and maintain my own hiring standards.

I will agree with what you have to say. A possible solution is a meet and great while they look over your PRIA records and attendance before giving the person the go ahead.

Except the SSP only applies to captains, once they finish the downgrades the number of pilots eligible or accepted to the SSP will be very, very low. The rest will be put out on the street once we shut down.
