That will most likely change in the near future. The union and company are talking about changing it to what delta has.

Silly, wasteful move. I don't see a point in changing it. Should be spending their time working on pay rates, not how seniority is decided for new hires.

Give the old guys first choice. It only matters for one day, when aircraft & base assignments are made. Then it all falls in order of hire.

How about down the road when schedules are being bid? Or vacations? Bases? Does seniority within the class matter if there were furloughs? I'll have to check with the low pilot in a class that didn't get to upgrade but watched a classmate. I'll make sure to reiterate that seniority only matters Day 1.

If seniority only matters to you on day one at a company, that's your choice. My point stands though, most people would prefer a higher seniority for their entire career. It would have made some differences in my time here. But you're right, QOL concerns are just drama..

Tell that to the Pinnacle class hired in 2006 that had 400 Colgan and Mesaba pilots slapped right in the middle of that class during the seniority integration.... That was the difference between holding on to the captain seat and spending a long time kicked back as FO... that's a pretty big deal.
